I am a Doctor of Nursing Practice and graduated first in my class from Valparaiso University, where I also earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I worked at the university tutoring international graduate students in Health Assessment, which is where I first gained my love of teaching. Together we created a fun and supportive environment, and I still keep in touch with these students. My favorite subjects address health disparities and at-risk populations. I started an LGBTQ+ education program for nursing students to increase cultural competence for this patient population. I am also a co-author for an award-winning textbook on nursing research. I know that nursing students have to contend with a steep learning curve, high standards, and the emotional burden that comes with caring for patients. I find joy in helping students mitigate this by cultivating their excitement and interest in the field. I believe that students who own their knowledge become better caregivers with better patient outcomes. I tutor in medicine as well as professional exams including NCLEX, ANCC, and AANP. My objective as an educator is to take overwhelming information and make it manageable, memorable, and personalized. I am currently a senior at Harvard College where I study chemistry, and I'll be attending Columbia Medical School next year. I have years of experience tutoring college students in math (mostly calculus) and chemistry including both general and organic chemistry.
