I've been a teacher and a tutor for years, and I haven't yet come close to settling on a subject. I've taught everything from graduate level economics to elementary school reading to test prep to music composition. I've taught businessmen, teenagers, and a classroom full of 10 year olds. And I've gotten results every time. I strongly believe in the power of personalized education, tailored for the individual student and human being. When I'm not tutoring, I spend most of my time on my two indie rock bands, in which I play guitar and bass and write many of the songs. I also like to take my dog, Mac, on walks around my neighborhood of Grant Park.

When I am with a student, I always strive to make sure I fully understand what questions the tutee may have during the session, and ensure that I am able to answer these to the best of my ability. I love using both visual and auditory methods to ensure I am able to relay my information as best as I can! Since I received multiple semesters of training for tutoring in my undergrad, I am able to accommodate students to however they are best able to learn, whether that is more visuals or using alternative explanations. Although I am extremely passionate about Mathematics, other areas I am interested in include History and Science!

I am a Brown University senior graduating this May with a bachelors of science in neuroscience. For the past year and a half I have spent numerous hours as a volunteer for Let's Get Ready, a SAT and college prep program. I began my involvement in this organization purely on a whim, in order to give back to the community around me. I quickly discovered my passion for teaching, however, and began serving as the head math coach within a few short months. Teaching has allowed me to take part in the development of future intellects. To this purpose, I teach only mathematics and science, as those are my personal favorite subjects. I also focus on improving one's ability to think through a problem, as opposed to learning simply by base memorization. I do this because when a student's focus is solely on memorization, they often quickly forget the material due to time or stress. However, the skills one gains from learning how to think through problems are much more stable and flexible. This flexibility allows for those skills to be used in multiple subjects, and towards more advanced learning.Now, a little about me. In the future, I plan to go to medical school and become a general surgeon, due to the growing need in our current healthcare system. I enjoy drawing, salsa dancing, and bachata dancing. I'm also the self-proclaimed FIFA king of my university, and will defend my title at any non-working moment. I would help students with test corrections and classwork. Me helping others, in fact, helped me develop communicational skills and gain confidence about the material I had learned. Later during the year, I assisted chemistry teachers with symposiums for STAAR and the finals.After graduation, I started tutoring privately. I've worked with mostly middle school and few high school students.Currently I tutor for iEducateUSA, a non-profit organization that assigns tutors to elementary schools to provide extra help for the students. I've been tutoring fifth graders for the past year and it has been an exceptional experience. I hope to continue this journey for a very long time.

I am a recent graduate from Tufts University, graduating last semester - Fall 2013 - as an early graduate. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, focusing on MEMS systems. Currently and while at Tufts, I have been working for the Center of Engineering Education Outreach Center. I am currently involved in a project helping students from Indonesia learn engineering concepts and fundamentals using LEGOs.I enjoy tutoring students in all levels of mathematics and physics. As an engineer, I understand the need for young students to be scientifically literate and capable. I love helping struggling students understand mathematical concepts that they didn't believe they were capable of learning. In my free time, I thoroughly enjoy climbing, hiking, and running.

When students learn the correct way to approach problems, they learn not only their subject, but they learn "how to learn". Learning technical subjects need not be cold and rigid - creativity is valuable in any subject!In short, I like to teach in such a way that the student learns how to do the problem themselves, instead of just copying the tutor's solutions.
