Accounting Operations

The Accounting Operations program will provide the student with accounting/bookkeeping employment skills. These skills include, but are not limited to: keyboarding; Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft PowerPoint (MOS Certification); QuickBooks Certification; IC3 Certification; business math; business ethics; written and oral communication; filing; calculators; sole proprietorship accounting; partnership accounting; merchandising accounting; corporation accounting; and automated accounting. This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills expanding the traditional role of the Bookkeeper and Accounting Assistant. Students develop bookkeeping principles that emphasize classifying, recording, summarizing numerical data and making computations to compile and keep financial records. When registering, students must register for the complete program. Students in the Accounting Operations program prepare a portfolio that highlights the skills they learned, in order to prepare them for a challenging career, and a showcase of certifications earned. Students also create a professional resume and letter of application. There are a variety of projects within the four Occupational Completion Points. Students will need to complete all of the projects in order to satisfy the curriculum requirements for this course. Equipment includes 30 Windows PC computers with dual-screens, one HP Laser Printer and one color printer. Software Applications: Automated Accounting, Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks Pro. Courses include: OTA0040 - Information Technology Assistant; ACO0040 - Accounting Clerk; ACO0041 - Accounting Associate; ACO0042 - Accounting Assistant. Digital Media/Multimedia Design

Hands-on projects in web design and audio-video engineering will provide essential skills in working in a broad range of media. The Digital Media/ Multimedia Design program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Arts, A/V Technology and Communication career cluster. The Digital Media/Multimedia Design program focuses on the principles and elements of creative visual design and the promotional marketing advertisement of a business brand. Students will create stunning multimedia presentations highlighting their own unique brand in a portfolio collection. The portfolio will display the student's logo brand in a variety of projects which include print design, web design, videography, motion graphics and animation, audio recording and editing, and traditional and social media marketing. Students will work with a broad range of media tools including Adobe digital design software and industry level studio equipment to produce conceptual, technical, and professional presentations of their brand. Students will understand freelance design and how to market their products and services through their own professional website. Students will gain industry knowledge and achieve industry level Adobe certifications. Portfolios will include Print, Video, Motion Graphics and Web projects. Students also create a professional resume and letter of application. Practical Nursing

The focus of this program is to prepare the student for employment as a Licensed Practical Nurse. LPN's provide hands-on nursing care and work under the direct supervision of registered nurses and licensed physicians. They participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients of all ages, in a variety of health care settings. Theory and Clinical procedures are integrated to reinforce learning. The content includes, but is not limited to, theoretical instruction and clinical experience in medical, surgical, obstetric, pediatric, and geriatric nursing; application of vocational role and function; personal, family and community health concepts; nutrition; human growth and development over the life span; body structure and function; interpersonal relationship skills, mental health concepts; pharmacology and administration of medications; legal aspects of practice; and current issues in nursing. The work can be physically demanding, requiring the ability to walk frequently, lift and bend for long periods of time. This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Health Science. Lab activities are designed to provide safe care practice with materials, equipment and procedures related to basic, intermediate and advanced nursing care. Clinical practicum experiences occur in acute care, sub-acute care, long term care and community settings. The Florida Board of Nursing requires that 50% or more of course time be spent as clinical hours, in a variety of clinical areas. Courses included: PRN0098 – Practical Nursing Foundations 1, PRN0099 – Practical Nursing Foundations 2, PRN0290 & PRN0291 – Medical Surgical Nursing 1 & 2, and PRN0690 – Comprehensive Nursing and Transitional Skills. Patient Care Technician

The Patient Care Assistant Program focuses on preparing students as advanced, cross trained nursing assistants, who provide hands-on care to patients and residents in hospitals, homes, Ambulatory Care and Long Term Care facilities. Its purpose is to develop a broad range of knowledge and skills that can be used in a variety of health care settings and age groups. The program is a blend of classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction. The content includes but is not limited to: interpersonal skills, medical terminology, legal and ethical responsibilities, basic anatomy and physiology, vital signs, performing basic EKG and Phlebotomy procedures, safe and efficient work, first aid, personal care, light housekeeping, gerontology, rehabilitation and restorative care, nutrition, pet-facilitated therapy, end-of-life care, effective time management, healthy home environments, and career readiness. This program provides advanced preparation to be an advanced cross- trained nursing assistant, with additional emphasis on training in Phlebotomy, EKG and geriatric care for acute and long term care settings. Lab activities are designed to provide safe practice with materials, equipment and procedures related to basic health care. The Immokalee Technical College Diploma Nursing Program holds pre-accreditation status from the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation. If you are a currently licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Florida, you can train to become a Registered Nurse (RN) in just one year! The Professional Nursing (LPN-RN) Program is specifically designed to prepare students for the RN licensing exam and to help secure employment as a Registered Nurse. The program consists of a blend of classroom instruction, simulation training, and clinical experience in local healthcare facilities across Collier County. According to the Florida Board of Nursing and F.S. 464.019, the diploma nursing education program must consist of at least 50% clinical training, with no more than half comprising simulation exercises. The program includes a professional nursing curriculum that outlines clinical experiences and theoretical instruction in various areas, including medical, surgical, obstetric, pediatric, geriatric, and psychiatric nursing, across acute care, long-term care, and community settings. Program courses include: NSG0080 – Nursing Transitions and Program Orientation; NSG0081 – Concepts of Geriatrics and Pharmacology in Nursing; NSG0082 – Psychiatric Nursing; NSG0083 – Medical Nursing; NSG0084 - Surgical Nursing; NSG0085 - Pediatric Nursing; NSG0086 - Obstetric Nursing; NSG0087 - Professional Nursing; and NSG0089 - Senior Practicum Intensive. Career Opportunities: RNs have the possibility to work in multiple settings such as Hospitals - short and long-term care including maternal-newborn, pediatrics, and other specialty areas, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, Home health, doctor's offices, clinics, hospice care, travel nursing. Professional Culinary Arts & Hospitality

Learn restaurant operations by working with state-of-the-art commercial equipment in the iTown Café, where breakfast and lunch are served Monday through Friday, and banquet events are contracted and catered by iTECH students in the Conference Center. Students practice the skills for this program by working and learning in the iTOWN Café, which serves breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday on regular school days. It focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses demonstration of the following elements of the Professional Culinary Arts & Hospitality industry: cooking and baking techniques; planning; management; finance; technical and product skills; labor issues; community issues; and health, safety, and environmental issues. This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Hospitality and Tourism career cluster. Area of Focus includes: Hotline, Soups, Mother Sauces and their derivatives, Salads, Egg cookery, Vegetable cookery, Six basic cooking methods (braising, grilling, sautéing, steaming, roasting, frying), Server, Knife skills, Sanitation, Cashier, Baking & Pastries, and Banquets. Every student must have a cover letter, resume, 'favorite food report' and pictures of plated menu items. Students will also complete practical food preparation tests; assist in kitchen breakdown, clean-up and reset and practice public speaking. Students will learn to prepare daily baking and pastry specials, as-well-as participate in the Farmbot agricultural awareness program. Courses included: HMV0100 – Food Preparation, HMV0170 – Cook, Restaurant, HMV0171 – Chef/Head Cook, and HMV0126 – Food Service Management. Cosmetology

Prepare for the Florida Board of Cosmetology licensing exam by learning and working at iSalon. Learn Florida law and practice skills in hair care, styling, and treatment; facials; manicures & pedicures; hair removal; and makeup. Students practice the skills for this program by working and learning in the classroom and in the iSalon, a new upscale salon that is open to the public on regular school days. Program content includes, but is not limited to, communication skills; leadership skills; human relations skills; employability skills; safe and efficient work practices; Florida cosmetology law and rules; acquisition of knowledge of cosmetology and its related chemistry; and development of skill in performing the manipulative techniques required in the practice of cosmetology. This course will provide clinical experiences necessary for the development of the skills required to be a competent cosmetologist. The allocation of time to the various phases of cosmetology is prescribed by the Florida State Board of Cosmetology. Topics to be covered include: permanent waving and relaxers, hair color and bleaching, skin, scalp and hair treatments, hair cutting, styling dispensary, manicure/pedicure/nail techniques, reception, safety precautions/decontamination, and Hazardous Duty Standards Act compliance, advanced styling and hair shaping, industry concepts, and exposure to a salon setting. Students will create a portfolio including: before and after photos, a resume, reference letters, awards, and a certificate of completion. Courses include: CSP0009 – Grooming/Salon Services, Facials & Nails; COS0002 – Cosmetologist and Hairdresser 1; COS0003 – Cosmetologist and Hairdresser 2; COS0009 – Cosmetologist and Hairdresser 3. Career Opportunities: Cosmetologist, Nail Technician, Platform Artist, Instructor, Salon Owner or Manager, Color Specialist, Facial, Wax and Brow Specialist, Sales Representative, Makeup Artist, Manufacturer Educator, Special Effects Artist, Blow Dry Specialist, Braid and Wig Stylist.

Early Childhood Education

The Early Childhood Education program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for employment as early childhood educators, lead preschool teachers, child development specialists, and family day care home operators. If you are a person who likes caring for and working with young children in a classroom setting, this program may be for you. Students divide their time between the classroom and the Little Indians Preschool Labs, where they gain at least 480 hours of hands-on experience working with two, three and four year olds. Class time includes: (a) preparation for tests required of child care workers, and documentation of the knowledge, experiences and skills required for Florida Child Care Center Staff-Credentialed employees; (b) preparation for the National CDA exam; and (c) documentation of the knowledge and skills required for the National CDA credential. Within the completion of this program you will have more than 400 hours of hands-on learning with pre-school aged children. This includes: One on One Learning... Gross Motor Skill Development and Outdoor Playtime... Free Center Choice and Imaginative Play. Included are the following major areas of training: rules and regulations governing child care; health, safety and nutrition; child abuse and neglect; child growth and development; behavior guidance techniques, and coursework in child development appropriate practices. Courses included: HEV0870 – Child Care Worker 1; HEV0871 - Child Care Worker 2; HEV0872 – Teacher Aide; HEV0873– Preschool Teacher. Building Construction Technology

This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment in Building Construction Trade. The content includes practical experiences in construction-related skills such as materials handling, safety, carpentry, masonry, site layout, plumbing, electric, framing, roofing, concrete, communication, hand tools, and power tools. This program is a planned sequence of courses of two occupational completion points that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and/or careers in the construction industry. The program provides technical skill proficiency, and includes applied learning that contributes to academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills; work attitudes; general employability skills; technical skills; occupation-specific skills; and knowledge of all aspects of the construction industry. Construction Technology at iTECH encompasses all the basics associated with the construction industry. We start off with the CORE program which involves the basics such as hand tools, power tools, reading construction drawings, basic communication skills, rigging, and employability skills. Next we move onto Construction Technology courses. Here we branch off into different specialty modules such as masonry, electric, plumbing, site layout, carpentry, roofing, and more. Courses include: BCV0400 – Building Construction Helper; BCV0401 – Building Construction Technician – 1 of 2; BCV0402 – Building Construction Technician – 2 of 2.
