The Accounting Operations program will provide the student with accounting/bookkeeping employment skills. These skills include, but are not limited to: keyboarding; Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft PowerPoint (MOS Certification); QuickBooks Certification; IC3 Certification; business math; business ethics; written and oral communication; filing; calculators; sole proprietorship accounting; partnership accounting; merchandising accounting; corporation accounting; and automated accounting. This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills expanding the traditional role of the Bookkeeper and Accounting Assistant. Students develop bookkeeping principles that emphasize classifying, recording, summarizing numerical data and making computations to compile and keep financial records. When registering, students must register for the complete program. Students in the Accounting Operations program prepare a portfolio that highlights the skills they learned, in order to prepare them for a challenging career, and a showcase of certifications earned. Students also create a professional resume and letter of application. There are a variety of projects within the four Occupational Completion Points. Students will need to complete all of the projects in order to satisfy the curriculum requirements for this course. Equipment includes 30 Windows PC computers with dual-screens, one HP Laser Printer and one color printer. Software Applications: Automated Accounting, Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks Pro. Courses include: OTA0040 - Information Technology Assistant; ACO0040 - Accounting Clerk; ACO0041 - Accounting Associate; ACO0042 - Accounting Assistant. Career Opportunities: Accounting Clerks, Auditing Clerks, Bookkeepers, Inventory Clerks, Payroll Clerks, and Clerical positions in specialized areas such as law, medicine, engineering, real estate, government, education, and small business.

Prerequisites: Specific Admissions Requirements: None. When registering, students must register for the complete program. DOE Basic Skills Exit Requirements: Communications 10, Computation 10 (unless exempt). CASAS Exit Requirements: Communications 244+, Computation 241+ (unless exempt).
