This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment in Building Construction Trade. The content includes practical experiences in construction-related skills such as materials handling, safety, carpentry, masonry, site layout, plumbing, electric, framing, roofing, concrete, communication, hand tools, and power tools. This program is a planned sequence of courses of two occupational completion points that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and/or careers in the construction industry. The program provides technical skill proficiency, and includes applied learning that contributes to academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills; work attitudes; general employability skills; technical skills; occupation-specific skills; and knowledge of all aspects of the construction industry. Construction Technology at iTECH encompasses all the basics associated with the construction industry. We start off with the CORE program which involves the basics such as hand tools, power tools, reading construction drawings, basic communication skills, rigging, and employability skills. Next we move onto Construction Technology courses. Here we branch off into different specialty modules such as masonry, electric, plumbing, site layout, carpentry, roofing, and more. Courses include: BCV0400 – Building Construction Helper; BCV0401 – Building Construction Technician – 1 of 2; BCV0402 – Building Construction Technician – 2 of 2. Career opportunities include: Carpenter, Concrete Finisher, Electrician, HVAC Technician, Mason, Painter, Plumber, and Pipefitter.

Prerequisites: Specific Admissions Requirements: Bennett Aptitude Test. DOE Basic Skills Exit Requirements: Communications 9, Computation 9 (unless exempt). CASAS Exit Requirements: Communications 239+, Computation 236+ (unless exempt).
