I am a graduate of the both the University of Rochester (CHE B.S.) and the University of Michigan (NERS M.S.E). During my time at these institutions I was a teaching assistant for a variety of chemical engineering courses as well as an active tutor for Tau Beta Pi, which is an engineering honor society. My primary tutoring experience has mainly been with entry level college students in the fields of science, math, and engineering. I am a firm proponent of learning and understanding the mechanisms involved in solving problems as this results in a wider application of knowledge as compared to solving simply for an answer. In my spare time I enjoy science fiction literature and keep myself busy with lots of running and hiking outdoors.

After obtaining tenure and teaching for a number of years, I left the k-12 classroom to begin work on a doctoral degree in Special Education and Disability Studies at Syracuse University, which I am currently completing coursework towards. As a graduate student in this program, I have taught a number of undergraduate and graduate courses situated within the School of Education. Having taught across a variety of grade levels, both k-12 and collegiate, I tutor in a variety of areas. In particular, I have strong writing skills myself and am able to provide students with a great deal of support in written expression. As a tutor who was a former Special Education Teacher, my forte is in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of each learner and bring a variety of engaging teaching strategies to each tutoring session. In my spare time, I love to surround myself with nature, spending time in the woods with my two giant dogs.

I am an organic chemist from Syracuse, NY. The sciences have always been a strong passion of mine, recently I have developed a strong desire to educate. I received a B.S. from State University of New York (SUNY) at Cortland and M.S. from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). During my degrees I acquired over four years of organic synthetic research. While pursuing my M.S. I was awarded a Teaching Assistantship. This involved instructing two laboratory classes each semester as well as providing tutoring services for students. The first year I was an instructor and tutor for General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry for the second year. During this time I discovered my desire to educate. I am currently working as a substitute teacher for the Syracuse City School District while I await decisions from universities in hope to obtain a PhD.

In addition, I am able to help with the math portion of standardized tests, such as the SAT and ACT.
