Since high school, I've been exposed to different aspects of education from mentoring peer immigrants to studying education policy. Studying cognitive science in college has solidified my interest in and taught me various effective teaching methods. Ive learned that there are different types of intelligence as well as different types of learning. In order to be an effective educator, it is important to establish a relationship with the pupil to utilize the pupils learning style.Moments from being a summer school teacher for 4th-6th graders and a resident assistant for 2 years, fuel my passion for teaching. I now work as an instructor for children with developmental disorders, using applied behavioral analysis therapy to decrease their maladaptive behaviors and increase behaviors that will help them to be successful in life. I love my job and working with children of all ages and will soon be applying to a Masters of Science program in clinical psychology.My past experience and current work have taught me that any student can learn any material no matter what her environmental, social, medical or academic background. In fact, my philosophy is to evaluate all of these factors and use them to determine the student’s strengths so that I can tailor my teaching to her learning style. This method works fantastically with my current students, many of whom have significant barriers to overcome beyond academics.

I graduated with a Degree in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy. I was also a tutor at my school's Writing Center.
