I am a retired high school teacher. I have taught all levels (9-12 grade), and all aspects of English. No matter what I taught or when I taught it, I have always enjoyed the student-teacher connection more than any other part of teaching.I am especially good at helping with writing no matter the writer's level. Working on writing is a chance to also work on grammar, punctuation, organization, including outlining, and finally writing the paper. If a student learns this process, they can write a response for any situation.Once the process is learned then writing for other classes, all the way from a short answer to a research paper, becomes so much easier! After graduation and entering the work world, knowing how to write a response is a crucial tool. More and more businesses demand their employees write.Be it writing, or any other academic challenge, I hope to help you reach your potential, connect what you are studying to the real world, and have some fun while doing so.

I received my dual bachelor’s degrees at the University of Southern California in Neurosciences and Biological Sciences. Since graduation, I have worked for two years at a USC research institute; in that time, I also developed a love for teaching. In the course of discovering this affinity, I have taught programs from the Neighborhood Academic Initiative at USC for underserved high schoolers to my most recent employment at Kaplan, Inc. Although I have extensive experience in managing and working in a classroom, I prefer to work with students one-on-one; it is more rewarding for both of us to discover strengths and weaknesses, find how our teaching and learning styles match, and see improvement. The time I have spent taking and tutoring students for standardized tests has only refined my understanding of what students need and have the most trouble with. Although I enjoy and have experience teaching a vast array of subjects (especially during my time at a graduation lab at Irving High School), I am especially drawn to the sciences, math and English. The love for the former two stems from years of education and interest in the sciences, and the latter harks even further back to my addiction to reading that I acquired in elementary school. I am a voracious reader, especially science fiction and fantasy, and many have told me that my affection for the language is infectious! My hobbies outside devouring literary delicacies include singing, playing the guitar, basketball, running, boxing and hiking.

I received a B.S. in Business Economics and an M.A. in Classics from the University of Arizona. I am currently working on completing my Ph.D. in Classics at the University of California, Irvine. I have tutored a variety of students, ranging from the elementary to the college level, for the past four years. I primarily tutor subjects relating to the Humanities, such as Ancient Languages, History, and English Composition. My favorite subject to tutor is Latin, since I regard Latin as the most beautiful and intricate of the human languages. When tutoring I first ask for a copy of the course syllabus/schedule, assess the needs, goals, and expectations of the student in the course, and then set up a tutoring system that serves each student's specific situation.

I combine my academic and professional experience, as a creative writer and freelancer, to offer students advice, and help them develop the skills that will aid them in any academic/professional situation.

I graduated from Davidson College in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I earned my masters in 2009 from Wake Forest University in Business Administration and Management. My goal here is to help anyone who genuinely wants to learn and prepare themselves for success in education and in life. I enjoy golf and travel.

I am a graduate of Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, where I got my MA in Human Development with a focus on Leadership in Education & Social Services. For five years, I worked as a tutor for special needs and foster children in Los Angeles County. Prior to that, I have worked at libraries helping in the homework center and also helping fellow undergrad students with their essays. Ive tutored multiple subjects in the elementary level, but my strength is in tutoring language arts. I have worked for almost ten years in the field of early childhood education, which is my passion. I love working with young children! Im honored to be part of developing their enthusiasm for lifelong learning.

I studied at the University of California - Merced. By next year I will have received my bachelor's of science in chemistry. I have tutored high school students in math and chemistry and enjoy it very much. Besides tutoring I enjoy many other activities. For the most part I like to keep myself informed about science, I am always reading articles on the latest scientific studies. It's very interesting to hear about all the new things that scientists are figuring out. Once I graduate I want to work for big chemical companies and get as much experience as I can. I hope to one day start my own business and have my own chemical company.

I am a recent graduate from CSU Long Beach where I obtained my Master's degree in physics. Before my time in Long Beach, I was a student at UC Davis, where I obtained my BS in physics. I am currently looking to pursue my Ph.D. in physics once accepted to a university. Since my graduation in December, 2013 I have been in the teaching work force. I am currently teaching part-time at both Santa Ana College and Cypress college, where I am an instructor pf physics and astronomy. I also am teaching at local academies as an AP physics instructor for the summer. In addition to this experience, I was teaching for three years during my graduate program teaching lab courses in physics cover topics such as mechanics, electronics, magnetism, and Optics. I enjoying teaching these topics very much, and I love to hear students becoming more fluent in the language and application of the topics. It is truly the greatest reward as an instructor. My teaching style focus around a bottom-up approach. Since I am convinced memorization in physics/astronomy is not useful, I stress learning the most basic form of problems and modifying them based on the question being asked. It may be more difficult for some students, but I believe it leads to a mastery and will make students much more versatile to different questions/topics. When I am not tutoring, I am usually acting in a show or auditioning for film/commercials. I love to hike, run, and play video games in my downtime. I like to think of myself as a highly functioning, active nerd. I look forward to meeting any prospective students interested in learning these amazing topics in the world of physics and astronomy.

I coached the science section of academic decathlon at Pacifica High School in Garden Grove for two years. I am currently running an after school engineering program at Pacifica High School in collaboration with the University of California, Irvine chapter of Engineers Without Borders.
