I graduated as valedictorian at Birdville High School, and now I'm a student at Vanderbilt University pursuing a BA in Cognitive Studies and a minor in Corporate Strategies. I have worked at the Mama Lere Hearing School at the Vanderbilt Medical Center for deaf preschoolers as well as volunteered as a first grade Sunday School teacher. In addition, I have had multiple ongoing volunteer positions as a tutor in schools in low-income areas in the subjects of Algebra I/II and English Language Arts. I have had the privilege of helping these students rise up beyond the any expectations, and I believe that a large part of their success comes not only from tutoring but from mentorship. Building a strong relationship with the student is first and foremost to being an effective tutor. I have strong skills in assessing the student's needs and meeting them where they are at.While I am able to tutor in a wide range of subjects, my strength lies in test prep. I remember not too long ago the stresses and anxieties that came with testing and can relate and better understand how students think and how to improve their approaches. Every student has the potential to succeed, and I am determined to help them reach the highest they can.I'm also fluent in Vietnamese and have traveled across the world. In my spare time, I am often trying out new restaurants, reading, spending time with my large family, or baking copious amounts of desserts. I worked as a college professor and instructor for over ten years. I then moved to the legal field where I worked as a mitigation specialist in capital murder cases for over eight years while honing and broadening my research and writing skills. Currently, I ghostwrite paranormal, suspense, and romance novels and cover college football. Not surprisingly, I especially enjoy tutoring writing and English students.

I earned my bachelor's degree in chemistry at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and my doctorate in pharmacy. During college I tutored chemistry, was a teaching assistant for the chemistry department, and taught a home school chemistry co-op. During pharmacy school, I was a tutor for pharmacy students at my school. I primarily tutor science and math.The first thing I do when tutoring is learn about the student. It is helpful for me to know the student's learning style, challenges and struggles with the subject, and their study habits. I also enjoy learning what the student likes to do outside of school. All of this information helps me cater the tutoring session to the student.Outside of academia, I enjoy spending time with my husband, being outside, gardening, fishing, crafting, playing games, and eating food with my family and friends. It's important to spend time doing things you enjoy even when school is busy and overwhelming. It's the best way to give your mind a refresh and return to your studies refocused!
