I have been teaching high school English for five years, and love helping developing readers and writers hone their skills! I have both my undergrad and graduate degrees in Education from the University of Dayton in Ohio and consider myself a lifelong learner! I believe learning should be fun and enjoyable as often as possible, and I am passionate about alleviating my students' stress and worries when they are faced with something difficult.

I then attended Michigan State University, where I received the master's and doctoral degrees in sociology. My areas of interest included Latin American societies and so I learned Spanish as well. I have three times had teaching assignments in Central America. I worked for many years as a full-time professor and academic administrator; I have since retired but continue to teach social sciences courses on a part-time basis. I have worked extensively with students on individual projects and have served as a mentor to many students. I enjoy working with students at the high school and college levels and have had considerable experience working with adult students.In my leisure time I like to watch movies, to read, garden and visit friends and family members.

I am currently working towards a BS in Music Education at Case Western Reserve University. In the past I have worked with middle school orchestra students at an arts summer camp, where I was a volunteer Teacher's Assistant. During this camp I ran sectionals with small groups of students and sat in with the violinists to help individual students in large group rehearsals. I have some tutoring and organization experience by working with my high school's chapter of the California Scholarship Federation, where we offered free tutoring to other high school students. I am most passionate about tutoring algebra and pre-calculus, because I really enjoy the problem-solving aspects of math. I also tutor English and SAT prep. In my free time I enjoy cooking, reading, and practicing as many different instruments as I can get my hands on!

I strive to engage all learners based on their unique learning style and ability level. As a current virtual ACT and peer tutor and volunteer tutor for underprivileged students, I have gained experience in instilling important research, writing, analytical, and mathematical skills in my students. I'm happy to help students with Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Geometry, Precalculus, and AB Calculus.
