I am currently working towards a BS in Music Education at Case Western Reserve University. In the past I have worked with middle school orchestra students at an arts summer camp, where I was a volunteer Teacher's Assistant. During this camp I ran sectionals with small groups of students and sat in with the violinists to help individual students in large group rehearsals. I have some tutoring and organization experience by working with my high school's chapter of the California Scholarship Federation, where we offered free tutoring to other high school students. I am most passionate about tutoring algebra and pre-calculus, because I really enjoy the problem-solving aspects of math. I also tutor English and SAT prep. In my free time I enjoy cooking, reading, and practicing as many different instruments as I can get my hands on!

I strive to engage all learners based on their unique learning style and ability level. Overall, I have an individualized approach to teaching and tutoring that gets results by building on the foundation of knowledge that each student possesses. I focus on each student's strengths and I mold my teaching to work on the difficulties/struggles that arise. The key to overcoming any obstacle is patience, drive, and hard work. At the end of the day, seeing a smile on a student's face when they realize that they are learning and have grasped a concept makes everybody's hard work worth it.Currently I am a General Studies College Instructor and Career Services Advisor and I have experience in teaching pre-k, kindergarten, and 5th grade. I have worked with special needs students and molded my teaching to their specific needs and abilities. My education background consists of a Bachelors in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh and a Masters in Reading and Math Education from Walden University. I am currently working on my Doctorate in Education with a specialization in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. I look forward to meeting you!

10th Grade Writing Tutor • +30 Subjects
I hold a Bachelor's in English from Troy University, as well as a Master's, also in English, from Case Western Reserve University. I'm currently a second-year PhD candidate (CWRU, English), and also freelance edit and write. At Case, I've had extensive experience as a teacher across the English curriculum, and have tutored in the Writing Resource Center over the past four years. I've worked with undergraduate, graduate, and professional students from almost every department on campus. I can help students revise a paper no matter the discipline, but am most at home tutoring literature, essay writing, creative writing, test prep, and study skills. My favorite subject to tutor is creative writing, as I am a fiction author myself. I enjoy nurturing students' creativity while urging them to push beyond their writing style comfort zone. My primary goals as a tutor are to help students learn the skills they need to succeed in their classes, while also inspiring genuine passion for and knowledge of the subject matter that they will carry with them throughout their academic careers and personal lives. In my spare time, I enjoy discovering new books, music, and films to devour, writing fiction, cycling, and hiking.

I am a music and arts industry professional with over 20 years experience working in a variety of settings. It would be my pleasure to help you achieve your academic and musical goals.I come from a family of teachers, specifically music educators, but my experiences run the gamut of all kinds of teaching paradigms. I've taught in inner city programs working with at-risk youth, I've helped prepare students for entry into college, worked with differently abled students facing their own unique challenges, and everything in between. I personally enjoy the process of getting to know a student, finding out exactly what it is that they need to be successful, and then helping them shorten their learning curve. Efficiency of thought and of action is key. After all, time is the one thing in this world we can't get back.I'm always open to questions, so feel free to send them my way. If there's a way I can be helpful, don't hesitate to ask.
