I love helping children/young adults. Helping them to understand their work and complete it, often times gives them a boost of self-esteem. The goal is to tutor in a way that teaches them to do their work on their own, but reminding them that I am always here to help.

My philosophy of teaching has evolved from many years as a student and as a teacher. Reflection on my beliefs regarding teaching and learning reveal that my mission as a teacher is threefold: to promote learning; to spark enthusiasm; and to provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning. I employ a wide variety of strategies based on essential educational principles. These encompass cognitive functioning, learning theory, diversity issues, instructional planning and assessment.

...University of Texas, where I majored in Applied Learning and Development. Currently, I am attending the University of Nevada - Las Vegas for my masters degree in Multicultural Education. I have been teaching children and adults of all ages since I began tutoring in high school, through working at a daycare throughout college, tutoring adults learning English in the El Puente program, and as an elementary teacher for the last three years.

I am working on my BA in Special Education. I love teaching and helping students learn. I have taught for four years. I look forward to helping you excel in your studies.

Hi! I'm Joe and I've been tutoring since 2004. I have served a wide range of learners, from elementary school students to professionals seeking help with business documents. I have special experience with the humanities sections of a range of standardized tests, including the ACT, SAT, and even the GRE. I can also assist with several AP subjects, including World History and Human Geography.

I have been teaching/mentoring for the past 13 years in North Carolina. I have a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Medaille College in NY. I enjoy helping others grow in education and feel more confident in their skills. I really enjoy teaching students to read. I taught first grade for nine years and it was my favorite grade to teach because I had the opportunity to teach children to read.
