As I believe education is central to a well-lived life, I am passionate about helping students reach their educational goals. I take pride in enriching students' imaginations, growing their knowledge, boosting their confidence, and fostering their curiosity about the world around them, and, as such, these are the primary objectives I bring to my teaching and tutoring. My experience working with students consists of ten years of teaching, tutoring, and mentoring primarily college freshmen and sophmores in a variety of subjects including writing, critical thinking, philosophy, and religious studies. I earned my B.A. in Philosophy and Psychology from the University of New Mexico, and then my Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Oregon. Of these experiences, the most rewarding involved helping students improve their writing and critical thinking skills - as these not only translate across the entirety of students' educational pursuits, but also serve them well in their lives going forward. In tutoring these subjects, I strive to find a balance between providing students with my expertise, while also meeting students where they are at and tailoring my approach to their individual needs and abilities. Beyond teaching and tutoring, I enjoy hiking, gardening, exercising, spending time with all sorts of animals, and reading anything that enriches my understanding of the world and expands my imagination.
