My first tutoring experience was of small groups of dental and medical first years while I was obtaining my PhD in Physiology at the University of Puerto Rico. Since then I have taught a variety of Science classes (General Biology, Anatomy, Anatomy and Physiology) to larger groups at the college level. As a researcher I have also mentored students (ranging from high school to graduate students) in a laboratory setting where the interactions are one-on-one and structured to each individual. I have learned that these individual interactions are the best to ensure that the student is getting help specifically where (and when) they need it, and for me (the tutor) to identify where the difficulty lies. Also, these individual interactions allow for a more comfortable relationship between mentor and mentee (tutor and student), which in turn allow for a better understanding of the materials. Although I am capable of tutoring different STEM topics, I am a biologist at heart.
I am a mother of 3 young kids and understand the hardships of remote learning. My background is multicultural, which makes me fluent in Spanish, English and French.
