I love education and teaching in general, but have a special passion for the maths--especially Algebra. I was valedictorian of my high school class and continued my education at Princeton University where I received an A.B in Psychology. I also completed their Teacher Preparation Program with certification to teach the Sciences and Psychology in high school and middle school, as well as all levels of elementary school.
After university I joined a monastery and am now an Orthodox nun. Although I have been away from teaching for several years, I'm excited to be tutoring again.
My favorite teachers were the ones who loved their subject and inspired that love in their students. That is how I hope to be inspiring my own students. I strive to be available and attentive to the specific needs of each of my students.--to give them more time and explanations in their areas of difficulty and to move at a pace that is comfortable for them. And when they are ready for it, I like to challenge them a bit with interesting problems so that their knowledge of the subject matter really solidifies and they gain confidence in their understanding of it. Also, when introducing new formulas and equations, I try to help my students understand how they are derived; I believe that this knowledge helps them apply the formulas that much better.
I am open to feedback and adapting my techniques to the needs of my students. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns and to schedule a lesson.
