I have always been a motivated learner, and this has ultimately helped me to be a motivated teacher. By receiving a well-rounded education, I believe that a person is made more able to meaningfully interact with the world around them. Math and science help us to understand how the world works, while English and literature help us to communicate with one another both in the present and in the past, and history helps us to see where we, as a species, have come from. Education can help us to see beauty and value in the world around us and in the path that brought us here, but also to see the road ahead, how much work is yet to be done, and how we start to do that work. To me, nothing is more important than learning, growing as a person, and helping others to do the same.

I love to read, and am usually working through multiple books at any given time, whether historical non-fiction, classic literature, or more modern fiction - big Stephen King fan. Music is also very important tome, although I wish I had more talent for playing instruments. I am looking forward to the day when concerts can be held again so I can get out and see more live music. When it comes to sports, I also prefer to watch than to play, and most enjoy soccer and hockey, although I do count myself as a devoted Red Sox fan. When the world begins to reopen, I most look forward to getting out, traveling, and seeing some more of it.
