I am an easy-going person who enjoys learning new things. I started my career as a researcher. During graduate school and then post-graduate work, I studied many different aspects of synthetic organic chemistry and worked on a number of different projects. I joined the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center in late 1996 and worked in a drug design and development lab for 11 years. I worked a few years in a small start-up and then became a high school teacher and that is where I am currently.
I enjoy outdoor activities like hunting and fishing, archery, shooting sports and motorcycles. I make my own bows and I love to read: Mostly fiction but some nonfiction from time to time.
