I have spent four years in the US Army as a mentor, tutor, teacher, leader and supervisor to over 50 students and soldiers. I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M (2013), where I graduated with a 3.7 GPA and was recognized as Cum Laude (Top 10-15%). Due to my extensive experience as an instructor for the Army, I am extremely skilled in assisting students to bridge any gaps they may have in the skills, or knowledge they need to succeed. I have spent the past eight months as a private tutor for a wide range of students with diverse needs and abilities. Teaching is my passion, and I humbly look forward to working with you.
It is my firm belief that all students have the ability and potential to excel in any subject, with the proper instruction, motivation, and focus. My areas of expertise include, but are not limited to: Reading and Writing (college, all levels) Biology and Chemistry (12th Grade and Freshman-level college), Psychology and Philosophy (all levels), Mathematics (Geometry and Below), Test preparation (SAT, ACT, STAAR, ASVAB, GED, LSAT, Study Skills, and many more!)
I am also trained in assisting students deal with any test or performance-related anxiety they may have. Due to my extensive psychological background, I utilize individualized instruction methods that are matched with each student's personality and learning style. I believe in a skills-based approach. I wish to train each student to be their own best teacher. Not only do I want each student to master the subject we work on together- I want them to develop flexible skills and critical thinking practices to enable them to approach other subjects with greater confidence after our time together ends.
In my spare time, I thoroughly enjoy reading, writing, and the study of psychology, philosophy, and physical fitness. I am also fascinated by sociology and the study of human history.
I recently took my Law School entrance exam, and am studying the GRE for Clinical Psychology. My long term goal is to utilize my psychological understanding and legal expertise to shape public policies in ways that empower humanity and inform our social and educational institutions. I deeply appreciate the opportunity to work with each student and parent, so please feel free to contact me with any
questions!
