Education and Scores: I am a 2019 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, where I received a dual degree BFA in Vocal Performance and BA in Creative Writing. I also achieved a GPA of 3.92, 3 semesters on the Dean's List, induction into Phi Beta Kappa as well as Sigma Tau Delta (the English honors society) and Pi Kappa Lambda (the Music honors society), Carnegie Mellon University Honors, and Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences Honors. I graduated Bloomfield Hills High School with a 3.96 GPA in 2015, and was a National Merit Finalist as well as a Presidential Scholarship candidate, thanks to my top test scores.
Interests: I am a book nerd and a music geek! Along with my coursework, I do a lot of singing, acting, writing, and reading. At school, I am the president of my improv comedy troupe, I write sketch comedy, I enjoy directing musicals and plays, I am an active member of a sorority, I write for my school newspaper, and I am the vice president of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honors society. I am very active in my student theatre group, of which I was previously Artistic Director, and I write for an online singer's magazine, Modern Singer Magazine.
Tutoring Experience: I have 3 years of experience tutoring ages 9-16. My last two years of high school, I volunteer tutored middle school students for my chapter of the National Honors Society in math, reading, social studies, Spanish, and science. Two summers ago, I ran my own tutoring business, where I tutored math through Algebra II (helping a student through her online class), ACT/SAT prep for a rising 9th grader, reading comprehension and writing skills for a rising 5th grader, Geometry (with the hopes of skipping 8th grade math) for a rising 8th grader, and homework help for a variety of students. I very much enjoy working with students of all ages and trying to find new ways to explain concepts that make sense. My brain often works well with memory tricks and easy-to-remember steps to using a concept, so I am accustomed to finding ways to break down lessons in ways that make learning simpler. I believe that all learning is possible with a little bit of legwork, and I want to help students learn how to do that legwork.
