I aim to increase understanding and retention of information as well as developing not just the skills to solve a specific problem, but the mindset needed to then solve all future problems. Also, I try and make the process as enjoyable as possible!

What is your teaching philosophy?
I like to take my time to understand how each individual student learns and change my teaching style to suit their needs.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I try to find some common points between us as students as well as establish a base of knowledge off of which to work.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Foster a need to learn in the student as well as inform the student about resources they can use to learn more when other people may not be available.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Break down the concept into smaller bits, then use real life examples to try and help the student better visualize the connections between all the bits.
