I am a graduate of the University of San Francisco, TESOL program. I have a MA is TESOL. Additionally, I'm a two time graduate of Colorado State University, where I obtained a BS in Psychology and a MS in Organizational Leadership. I have taught ESOL and VESL/IET classes both in the U.S. and in Saudi Arabia and Morocco. I'm currently an ESOL Instructor for a community college in the Northwest. In this role, I have taught academic level ESOL classes in reading, writing, listening and speaking, as well as specialized VESL/IET classes that lead to certification, and most recently, a technical writing class for first year students. Moreover, I am currently on a committee that assesses ESOL Scholarships; and finally, a committee that will evaluate incoming writing samples to determine placement in English classes.The subjects I tutor include: all ESOL skills, English, and academic/college level Writing/Reading.While living in Morocco with family, I decided to teach for an educational service. There, I quickly realized that teaching was my true passion in life, so I returned to the states to volunteer and obtain my MATESOL degree.Since graduating, I went back overseas for an academic year for a VET college, and then returned to the Northwest to teach at a community college. I have taught at the same college ever since. During COVID19, I applied what I mastered in my degree programs by effectively teaching online/live through a combination of a popular video meeting platform and a learning management system.I have since returned to the classroom, but still teach some hybrid and online classes. I believe that I am here to serve and help students as they strive to reach their personal and professional goals.

Currently I work as a Behavior Technician providing services to children with autism. I have experience working with students from many different educational backgrounds and with a variety of skill levels. I have found that building a great rapport with students and understanding their level of learning creates a successful tutoring session. My goal is to provide a positive learning environment for students to master skills in math and science.

She received a professional distinction in Spanish by completing three internships, including translating legal and scientific documents from English to Spanish for the Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide. After college she gained experience teaching in after school programs, and tutored students in Spain where she was studying as a North American Language and Culture Assistant. When she arrived back in the United States she wanted to continue tutoring and share her passion for the Spanish language.

I have worked extensively at summer camps in both New England and the Portland area (Oregon Zoo and Portland Children's Museum). In my free time, I love to read, work in my garden, take care of my fish tanks, and play ultimate frisbee!

I have hosted painting, life-drawing, and printmaking classes at my local studio and have experience teaching children and adults alike. I am currently working on earning my Medical Assistant certification and studying for the MCAT in anticipation of applying to medical school.My day job is at RISE Services as a Direct Support Professional working with kids and adults with developmental disabilities to help them accomplish their personal goals. This is where I discovered my passion for working one-on-one with people to continuously push against perceived boundaries and live their best lives. Lessons and skills I have learned from coaching my amazing clients lend themselves extremely well to tutoring.My teaching philosophy is that there are as many ways to learn as there are students. Learning how to teach each student in their own unique "learning language" is my favorite part of tutoring!We study smart, using tools that make sense to their thought process, instead of studying traditionally long and hard using standard methods (textbook reading, anyone?)
