The student and I continued practicing multi-step algebra. He is currently learning one-step algebra in school, so he is understanding the various concepts well. We ended our session by practicing varying word problems that he might encounter on his next standardized test.

Tutoring review by Frances in Ocoee, FL
The boys were beginning a unit on volume, so the homework focused on practice with evaluating expressions with decimals (especially pie), exponents and fractions. Then, we did an introduction to the volume of a cylinder. Both boys had no problem understanding the concept of volume - excellent! In general, student 1 struggled more today and seemed to have forgotten some of the different algorithms for things like multiplying out numbers with many digits and long dividing. However, by the end of the session, he was definitely much more comfortable. He also had no problems with the conceptual or applied portions of the homework. Student 2 did a great job overall. In the beginning, I was unsure of his choice to use fractions instead of decimals, but it was clear he was much more comfortable that way and he was able to solve the problems accurately. Great job!

This was great review because the student had not seen some of the examples in a while and had trouble remembering how to solve them. We reviewed the steps including, find the product, factor completely, and find the zeros of each function.

Tutoring review by William in Ocoee, FL
Today we went over trigonometric functions, identities, and how to use the Pythagorean theorem to find exact values for given trigonometric functions. The student did not seem to struggle too much with any of the material. He did a good job at following some of the explanation on things that were not so clear to him.

Tutoring review by Stephen in Ocoee, FL
We started by the student finishing his chemistry homework for chapter 3, which included material to familiarize him with the abbreviations for various elements on the periodic table and Dalton's atomic theory. We then moved on to geometry, where he completed his homework and in the process studied for his upcoming test. We went over material on points, rays, and angles. Overall, he was very comfortable with all of the material we covered today in both subjects.
