We started working with cube roots. The student seems to understand the concepts very well and may only have to work on reviewing his tests for any mistakes because looking at things, the student is potentially an A student. With regards to his current grade report, it is quite humbling to know that the student has jumped two-grades up from F to a C even though I know very well that he can easily pull off an A in the rest of his quizzes.

On Tuesday, the student and I covered the following philosophers: Copernicus, Galileo, and Descartes. We continued to work on a graphic organizer of thinkers and ideas so that he can compare and contrast the information. He is very good at implementing the knowledge and making analogies after being reminded what the theories encapsulate. He has a great attitude!

The student said that class has been going well. We worked on a review sheet covering quadratics and went into detail about factoring, square roots, and the quadratic formula. He missed a day of class but I think he's caught up now and has a solid understanding of the material. It was a good session.

We began today's session by completing the practice problems from Lesson 26--the problems dealt with trinomial factoring. We then moved on to complete all the even numbers for problem Set L 26. On several problems, we stopped and I gave additional instruction. We then watched the video for Lesson 27--Rational Expressions-- and completed the practice problems. At the next session, we will review these two problems, specifically distributing the terms properly when finding the common denominator.

Tutoring review by Jessica in O'Fallon, MO
Today, we reviewed various plane geometry questions. I made sure the student's approaches to the questions were appropriate and time efficient. I also interspersed concepts using fractions and decimals, and he seems to be doing better with these. He should continue to review the fraction/decimal list he wrote down, and I will test him on these again tomorrow.
