I am a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin where I was part of the Business Honors Program. In addition to having a Bachelor's in Business Administration, I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Geography with a focus on Environmental Conservation. Upon graduation, I took a job in Houston as a Technology Consultant before giving that up and embarking on a year-long road trip around the United States.Throughout college I worked as a freelance tutor, tutoring students in a variety of different subjects, from business classes such as Accounting and Finance, to more inclusive subjects like College Algebra and Calculus. I enjoy working with high school and college students, especially in regards to test preparation for standardized exams. I specialize in tutoring for the GRE, and I am a firm believer that a person can always do better than they previously thought possible. For me, the first step in achieving your educational goals is to re-orient yourself in regards to education. I find it important to know why what you are learning is useful, and I teach accordingly. Math is not only necessary for great test scores, it is incredibly helpful in your everyday life. In both employment and volunteer situations, I have extensive experience with childhood education, having tutored at a boys' elementary charter school in Brooklyn; worked as a site assistant at a YMCA elementary after school program in New Hampshire; tutored at a women's shelter in Boston; acted as a reading buddy at a Boys and Girls club in Boston; and volunteered at a nursery school in New Hampshire. In addition to these formal settings of education assistance, I was a counselor at a co-ed YMCA summer camp for six years, which gave me countless opportunities to grow my own understanding of how kids learn.I tutor elementary math and reading and truly love both subjects. I currently work as a managing editor and staff writer for a music publication based in Brooklyn, and have significant experience within the music industry having participated in a variety of publishing, PR, label operations, audio production, and commercial radio-related roles. I tutor in English, Economics, and standardized tests, and enjoy assisting students to develop their own creative voices and avenues of interpretation and problem solving. I love walking around the city, reading fiction and philosophy, and writing poetry.

I am a senior at Hamilton College with a concentration in Literature and minors in both Hispanic Studies and Art History. I have had two years of experience working as an algebra tutor and find tutoring a really rewarding and exciting experience. I have been reading more in the last few years than I did while I was in school and love when I find a book where I don't hit a wall halfway through. I am currently reading "What It Takes", by Richard Ben Cramer, widely considered to be the greatest book ever written about political campaigns, while other recently completed books include "Ball Four," by Jim Bouton, and a biography on Joe DiMaggio. Other interests include politics, New York sports (Yankees/Giants/Knicks please don't talk to me about the Knicks)
