I am most passionate about nursing and nurses. I was very fortunate to have had the benefit of older nurses and nurse practitioners teaching me. I look forward to opportunities to do the same for people becoming nurses and NPs.

I am a Doctor of Nursing Practice and graduated first in my class from Valparaiso University, where I also earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I worked at the university tutoring international graduate students in Health Assessment, which is where I first gained my love of teaching. Together we created a fun and supportive environment, and I still keep in touch with these students. My favorite subjects address health disparities and at-risk populations. I started an LGBTQ+ education program for nursing students to increase cultural competence for this patient population. I am also a co-author for an award-winning textbook on nursing research. I know that nursing students have to contend with a steep learning curve, high standards, and the emotional burden that comes with caring for patients. I find joy in helping students mitigate this by cultivating their excitement and interest in the field. I believe that students who own their knowledge become better caregivers with better patient outcomes. I tutor in medicine as well as professional exams including NCLEX, ANCC, and AANP. My objective as an educator is to take overwhelming information and make it manageable, memorable, and personalized. I employ an adaptable teaching style utilizing a variety of strategies to help students comprehend and retain information. I foster growth in my students, helping them identify big-picture patterns to focus their studies. Health care is always evolving, and I hope that my students will go into this field inspired to keep learning. When I am not teaching or writing I enjoy nature walks and anything creative, including singing, learning various instruments, and working on whatever art project has currently caught my interest.

I am a graduate of D'Youville University. I received my Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner. Since graduation, I have worked as a Hospitalist and now I am working for various hospitals, clinics and the government as an independent contractor. While I tutor nursing and nurse practitioner students, I am most passionate about mentoring new RN's and health care providers (NP's and PA's). I also specialize in tutoring students who have not been successful in passing their NCLEX or ANCC. My goal is to relieve as much stress for my mentees while they're transitioning into their new role. I am a master prepared nurse with a certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I have acquired over 26 years of experience in the medical field, which has provided me with a wealth of understanding of my role as a provider or nurse, medicine and laws that govern the practice. I have also received certification as a Holistic Health Practitioner and have an in depth understanding of various sciences. Since my childhood, I have developed a proficiency in all subjects and have mastered taking tests. I have a love for learning, but more importantly, I have a passion for teaching. My memory is sharp and I have successfully taught students how to recall information and apply knowledge. I am especially good at remembering numbers. I have acquired certification in early childhood development as well, and couple that with my understanding of the growth and developmental stages. As I merge my experiences and knowledge, I am able to instruct any age group efficiently. I understand that the key to imparting knowledge is assessing how each individual learns best. I develop creative platforms to teach and use relatable modalities to make sure that personal educational goals are met for each student.

I'm not tutoring or buried in my textbooks, you will either find me rock climbing at the Triangle Rock Club, playing Ultimate Frisbee, working on my car, or enjoying the great outdoors (beaches, mountains, forests--you name it, I love it). I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. In all subjects, I take a creative, inquiry-based and learner-centered approach, designing opportunities for each unique individual to meet their learning goals.

I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.

I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with High Honors. With eight years of experience working in education, I've tutored students in math, science, history, and English, as well as helped students prepare for standardized tests. I've guided adults towards passing the US Citizenship Exam and taught English in India, where I lived for six months. Whenever I work with a student I personalize the lessons to fit their particular learning style, since I know every student is unique and having the right fit can make all the difference in making learning fun and effective. My strengths are tutoring the social sciences and humanities, as well as making math and standardized tests approachable to students that normally don't like those subjects. In my spare time I like traveling, spending time in the outdoors (climbing & backpacking), meditation, and playing soccer. Next fall I will be beginning my PhD in Education at Harvard University.
