A Peace Corps assignment beckoned, and my wife and I had the privilege of 2 years teaching English as a 2nd language in an island school in Micronesia. Our journey from that Pacific paradise to NY took us the rest of the way around the globe and gave us the determination we needed to spend our next 3 years teaching 9th Gr. English in Brooklyn. Then off we went to spend 8 years in Europe, mainly in Southern Spain. There I taught all subjects for an American/Spanish family while we raised a garden of amazing food and practiced Yoga. Finally, back in my hometown in Massachusetts I taught 9th Grade English again and took Graduate Education courses at Assumption College. Responding to a rare offer, our whole family taught English as a 2nd Language for 6 months in Kerala, SW India. When our 4 daughters grew ready for college and grad school, we finally settled in Highland County OH and I spent 5 years at the community college teaching English Composition, Literature, Philosophy, and Political Science. I also volunteered with the Highlands Nature Sanctuary and became Caretaker and Education Coordinator on Whispering Springs Farm. Substitute teaching all around SW Ohio has rekindled my passion to help a diversity of students achieve their dreams. I intend to further that goal by meeting and helping students succeed through Varsity Tutoring.
