About Me

I grew up in Minnesota and flew over the ocean to attend New York University Abu Dhabi. After four years of unforgettable experiences studying in Abu Dhabi, New York, and Berlin, I graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in Film & New Media and a concentration in Social Research & Public Policy. After tutoring peers in high school and university, I look forward to helping K-8 and high school students catch up, pull ahead, or cover a compelling subject in more depth. I specialize in teaching personalized courses in writing, public speaking, and math. For students studying for the ACT or SAT I offer a preparatory course with measured progress reports as we move through each section. I attended a competitive university and I know what it takes to make a student a contender at the highest level of admissions. I keep the material fresh and memorable through a variety of audiovisual approaches and real-world examples. One-on-one learning should never mean lectures, and I like to hold an ongoing conversation so students use their own learning skills in new ways to solve new kinds of problems. My creative experience in film-making allows me to guide interested students through extracurricular courses in film production and editing, and my musical background supports courses I teach in piano, composition, and music theory.
