I'm eager to teach students how to make connections and understand any part of the world they need!

I am no longer needed.
I'm a coterminal master's student at Stanford University in California majoring in Computer Science (Biocomputation). Throughout high school and college, I've taken many courses in computer science, the life sciences (biology and chemistry), and math; and I've been through a lot of standardized tests. For computer science in particular, I have a lot of experience writing software in Python and C++ for AI and systems classes, and I'll be interning as a software engineer at Facebook this summer. I got a lot of great tips and mentorship from tutors along the way, and would love to pass along what I know!
I'm looking forward to putting my knowledge to work for you!
Every Logical Reasoning stimulus contains an argument with a gap, and scoring well means identifying that gap in under ninety seconds. Richard's philosophy-of-science background gave him deep practice with formal and informal fallacies — sufficient vs. necessary conditions, causal reasoning errors, scope shifts — and he teaches students to name the flaw before even looking at the answer choices.
I am 22 years old and just graduated from the University of Kentucky with a double degree in French and Biochemistry. I have been a tutor for over a year now at UK's tutoring center. I believe that anyone can learn anything with enough practice and encouragement, and I love helping students overcome challenges and gain more self-confidence!
I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.
I'm a current medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine with undergraduate degrees from Washington and Lee in chemical engineering and anthropology. I have extensive experience in tutoring and teaching since 2010, and am ready to help you with your learning needs! I focus on standardized testing (SAT/ACT) and also tutor in a wide range of math, English, and Spanish classes. In my free time, I like to run, do CrossFit, volunteer, and watch TV!
I'm Anna! I'm currently a student in the MD/MBA program between Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and the Kellogg School of Management, and graduated from Northwestern University as part of the Honors Program in Medical Education. I attended the Bergen County Academies in New Jersey, a selective, application-based magnet school, for high school.
I am currently a resident physician at Northwestern Hospital.
I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. In all subjects, I take a creative, inquiry-based and learner-centered approach, designing opportunities for each unique individual to meet their learning goals.
I am a second year law student at the University of Chicago who hails from the San Francisco Bay Area! I tutor the SAT, ESL, and Spanish. I was an AVID tutor in high school, and after college I taught an ESL class and tutored a high school student in Spanish. In law school, I am involved with the Lawyers in the Classroom program. My tutoring philosophy is based on listening to students work through problems and helping them to spot their confusions or incorrect assumptions. I believe students learn much better when they aren't simply told the right answer or right reasoning; they need to get there on their own.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Logical Reasoning section tests your ability to analyze arguments, identify logical flaws, and draw conclusions from written passages. It makes up about half of your LSAT score (two sections out of four), so mastering this section is critical for law school admission. Each question presents a short argument followed by a question asking you to strengthen it, weaken it, identify an assumption, or recognize a logical flaw.
Score improvement depends on your starting point and effort level, but most students see meaningful gains within 8-12 weeks of focused study. With personalized 1-on-1 instruction, tutors can identify your specific weak spots—whether that's assumption questions, parallel reasoning, or pacing—and create a targeted study plan. Many students improve by 5-10 scaled points on this section alone by learning to recognize argument patterns and applying consistent strategies.
Students typically struggle with three main areas: distinguishing between similar question types (especially assumption vs. strengthen/weaken), managing time pressure while reading carefully, and avoiding answer choices that sound right but don't logically follow from the passage. Many also find parallel reasoning questions confusing because they require you to abstract the logical structure rather than focus on content. Personalized tutoring helps you develop a systematic approach to each question type so you can work faster and more accurately.
Varsity Tutors connects you with expert tutors who start by assessing your current performance using real LSAT questions and practice tests. They'll identify which question types trip you up, where you're losing time, and which logical reasoning concepts need reinforcement. From there, tutors build a customized study plan that combines strategy instruction, timed practice drills, and full-section simulations, with regular feedback to track your progress.
Pacing improves when you develop a consistent approach to reading and answering questions. Most students aim for about 8-9 minutes per question, but the key is reading the argument efficiently the first time—rushing through and re-reading wastes time. Tutors teach you to identify the argument's conclusion and main premises quickly, then use that framework to eliminate wrong answers faster. Practice under timed conditions is essential; tutors can help you build speed without sacrificing accuracy.
Practice tests are essential because they build test-stamina and reveal patterns in your mistakes. Taking full, timed LSAT sections helps you identify whether you're missing questions due to timing pressure, conceptual gaps, or careless errors. Tutors use your practice test results to guide instruction—if you're getting certain question types wrong consistently, they'll focus on those. Most students benefit from taking at least 20-30 full practice tests during their LSAT prep.
Your first session focuses on assessment and goal-setting. The tutor will likely have you work through a few Logical Reasoning questions to understand your current skill level, then discuss your target score and timeline. They'll ask about which question types confuse you most and whether timing or accuracy is your bigger challenge. By the end, you'll have a clear picture of your starting point and a customized study plan moving forward.
Look for tutors with strong LSAT scores themselves (typically 170+), experience teaching Logical Reasoning specifically, and a track record of helping students improve. The best tutors understand not just the content but also common student misconceptions and can explain logical reasoning concepts clearly. When you connect with a tutor through Varsity Tutors, they're vetted for expertise and teaching ability, so you can focus on your preparation with confidence.
