I'm eager to teach students how to make connections and understand any part of the world they need!

I am no longer needed.
I'm a coterminal master's student at Stanford University in California majoring in Computer Science (Biocomputation). Throughout high school and college, I've taken many courses in computer science, the life sciences (biology and chemistry), and math; and I've been through a lot of standardized tests. For computer science in particular, I have a lot of experience writing software in Python and C++ for AI and systems classes, and I'll be interning as a software engineer at Facebook this summer. I got a lot of great tips and mentorship from tutors along the way, and would love to pass along what I know!
I'm looking forward to putting my knowledge to work for you!
Scoring well on the LSAT requires treating it less like a knowledge test and more like a skills exam in argumentation, reading precision, and formal logic. Richard brings a philosophy-of-science thesis and over a decade of analytical writing and editing to that challenge, tackling each section — Logical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and Analytical Reasoning — with structured methods students can drill and repeat on test day.
I am 22 years old and just graduated from the University of Kentucky with a double degree in French and Biochemistry. I have been a tutor for over a year now at UK's tutoring center. I believe that anyone can learn anything with enough practice and encouragement, and I love helping students overcome challenges and gain more self-confidence!
I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.
Currently a second-year law student at the University of Chicago, Elena tackled the LSAT recently enough to remember exactly where the logic games and conditional reasoning trips people up. She teaches Analytical Reasoning by breaking each game into setup diagrams and inference chains, so students stop staring at the board and start eliminating answers with confidence. Her perfect 1600 SAT speaks to her comfort with high-stakes standardized tests, and her 4.9 rating shows that approach translates to her students.
I'm Anna! I'm currently a student in the MD/MBA program between Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and the Kellogg School of Management, and graduated from Northwestern University as part of the Honors Program in Medical Education. I attended the Bergen County Academies in New Jersey, a selective, application-based magnet school, for high school.
I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.
I am happy to accommodate and work with learners on the spectrum.
I'm a current medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine with undergraduate degrees from Washington and Lee in chemical engineering and anthropology. I have extensive experience in tutoring and teaching since 2010, and am ready to help you with your learning needs! I focus on standardized testing (SAT/ACT) and also tutor in a wide range of math, English, and Spanish classes. In my free time, I like to run, do CrossFit, volunteer, and watch TV!

Frequently Asked Questions
Score improvement varies based on your starting point and study commitment, but most students see meaningful gains with personalized instruction focused on their specific weaknesses. Many students improve by 5-10 points or more when they work with a tutor to identify which sections (Logical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, or Logic Games) need the most attention and develop targeted strategies for those areas. The key is consistent practice combined with expert feedback on your approach, not just more hours of studying.
Your first session typically focuses on understanding your baseline performance and learning style. A tutor will review your diagnostic test results, identify which sections are most challenging, and discuss your timeline and target score. This helps create a personalized study plan that addresses your specific gaps rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
Logic Games are one of the most coachable sections of the LSAT—many students find them intimidating simply because they haven't learned the systematic approach to diagramming and solving them efficiently. A tutor can teach you proven strategies for each game type, help you recognize patterns faster, and build the confidence that comes from consistent practice. Most students see significant improvement in this section once they understand the underlying logic and have time to drill with expert feedback.
Timing issues usually stem from either rushing through questions without careful reading or spending too long on difficult problems. A tutor can help you develop a personalized pacing strategy based on your strengths—for example, whether you should tackle easier questions first or spend more time on Reading Comprehension if that's your stronger section. Practice tests are essential here; working through full, timed sections with expert feedback helps you internalize the right pace for your skill level.
Most students benefit from taking 15-30 full, timed practice tests throughout their preparation, spaced out over several months to allow for skill development between attempts. The goal isn't just volume—it's analyzing your mistakes carefully to identify patterns in the types of questions you miss. A tutor can help you use practice tests strategically, reviewing your performance to refine your approach rather than simply taking test after test.
Test anxiety often decreases when you've practiced extensively under realistic conditions and know exactly what to expect on test day. Working with a tutor gives you the confidence that comes from understanding the test format deeply and having strategies for every question type. Many tutors also help students develop mental techniques for staying calm during the actual exam, such as managing your pace and knowing when to move on from a difficult question.
Reading Comprehension success depends on active reading—understanding the author's main point and argument structure rather than trying to memorize details. Different students benefit from different strategies, whether that's reading the passage first then questions, or previewing questions before reading. A tutor can help you experiment with different approaches, identify which one fits your strengths, and practice the specific skills that boost your accuracy, like recognizing inference questions versus detail questions.
Look for tutors who have scored well on the LSAT themselves and have experience teaching the specific sections where you need help most. Ideally, they should be able to explain not just the right answer, but why wrong answers are tempting and how to avoid common traps. Varsity Tutors connects you with expert tutors who understand the LSAT deeply and can adapt their teaching to your learning style and timeline.
