How can a Statistics tutor help you?

The educational directors at Varsity Tutors are experienced at connecting students in Cleveland, OH, with statistics tutors. Statistics is mathematical and scientific. It involves analyzing and interpreting data in a way that your findings may be communicated and presented to others. In addition to fulfilling your educational requirements, a background in this field may prepare you for a lucrative career collecting data and solving problems in a research, university, finance, or government setting.

Becoming a understand at statistics requires understanding many concepts that challenge students. It is often hard to grasp all of these in the scope of a single lesson. Your statistics tutor may, for example, expand upon your knowledge of reading histograms and expand upon insights into how the rectangles indicate key points on data distribution. They'll guide you in understanding how to assess samples within a population and in performing all steps of statistical analysis. In the end, you should gain more proficiency at working with a range of variables, including ordinal variables that may be quantified.

Statistics Tutoring review by Joseph in Cleveland, OH
Today we finished the student's multiple-choice cumulative assessment. He still showed a strong memory for most of the concepts, except for the binomial distribution (which he had struggled to recall last week) and Type II significance test errors, which have had almost no reinforcement from the teacher. Next time we'll do our final review for the last class test.

Statistics Tutoring review by Paul in Cleveland, OH
The student and I began working on review for his AP Stats test on Friday. We covered the first part of his AP exam review packet, on subjects such as histograms, bar graphs, dot plots, stem plots and one-variable statistics (mean, median, stdev). Some of the material required review because it was from early in his school year, and we scheduled an additional session for Thursday for more review prior to his exam.

Statistics Tutoring review by Amy in Cleveland, OH
The student wanted to go through sample problems that had been returned in class in preparation for the free response section of the exam, so we spent most of our time reviewing those sheets. She also had some questions on sample multiple choice problems in her study guide that we went over. Finally, I advised that she add the scripts taught in class to her review, as well as reading through example questions from each topic in order to help her recognize what technique is appropriate to what type of problem. The exam is Friday!

Statistics Tutoring review by Nick in Cleveland, OH
We spent the majority of our time focusing on conceptually understanding binomial probabilities, standard distribution, standard deviation, z-scores, and sampling mean. We worked on some problems involving these topics, with the understanding that our second day would focus more on formulas than concepts.

The student and I went over the basic terminology for statistics and the basic formulas such as mean, median, mode, standard deviation, etc. Right now, we are going off of my statistics textbook, which seems to be compatible with what she needs to learn.
