My certification allows me to teach all subjects for grades Pre-K through 8, but I have found my niche in tutoring language arts, reading, writing, and history for students in grades 2 through 8 and math for students in grades 3 and 4. I thrive on creating engaging lessons that emphasize comprehension and critical thinking, often using mentor texts to make learning enjoyable and relevant. Educating students has been my passion, originally inspired many years ago by a warm and caring English teacher. I wanted to become just like her, so that's what I did! If you would like to know some personal information , I am originally from upstate New York with 3 adult children, plus 5 more whom we have raised over the years. 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson are also happy additions to our family. I am a student at Brown University pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. In high school, I took a multitude of AP and college courses, so I am qualified to work with students on challenging material. I took high-level mathematics courses at a local university while in high school and participated in gifted programs as well as internship and research opportunities. My most recent tutoring endeavors include: tutoring math and reading for a variety of grades from K-12 and working for a private tutoring company as an SAT instructor, leading test-prep classes for high school students. I continue to pursue my educational and personal goals while at Brown. Although I am most experienced in the maths and sciences, I also love teaching English subjects as well as social sciences. I also value community involvement and have a love for the arts. I have danced for more than 15 years, on company teams and for benefit events in several communities. I also really enjoying figure skating, swimming, and participating in robotics programs and other enrichment activities. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Childhood Education from UW Superior and my Masters of Arts in education from Marian University with an emphasis in Special Education. Over the past three years I have been employed full time in education completing various roles such as Paraprofessional, Behavioral Intervention, and Cross Categorical Educator. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, and History. In my experience helping students in elementary and middle school, we always seem to have the most fun learning through projects and activities. I am a firm believer in educational inclusion and providing students with learning opportunities within the classroom with their peers. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my children, traveling, and going on walks.

The majority of that time has been spent in the middle school math and science content areas, however, I am proficient at tutoring Middle School Math, Algebra, Geometry and Algebra II as well as high school biology and physical science. In my teaching career, I have acquired a plethora of experience with teaching students with various learning differences as well as those students who come from traditionally undeserved populations. . My belief is that all students are capable of learning, they just need the right teacher at the right point in their learning path. I always strive to be that teacher for the students that I teach!
