The program of Barbering is designed to provide competency-based knowledge, theory, and hands-on fundamentals associated with the barber industry. The Program provides both a simulated and real environment that enables students to develop manipulative and technical skills. Coursework includes instruction in all phases of professional barbering: history, disinfection, sanitation and safety; haircutting, shaving, mock chemical process, facial treatments, blade theory, related Sciences, such as Anatomy and Physiology, Bacteriology and Electricity, and Business Principles and other required topics. Course subjects include: The History of Barbering-Styling, Your Professional Image, Bacteriology, Sterilization, Sanitation, and Safe Work Practice, Implementation, Tools, and Equipment, Properties and Disorders of the Skin, Scalp, and Hair, Facial Massage and Treatment, Hair cutting, Treatment of Hair Scalp, Shaving, Mustache and Beard, Mock/Demo Chemical Processing, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, Men's Hairpieces, Electricity and Light Therapy, The Job Search, Selling in the Barber-Style Shop, Barber-Style Shop Management, Licensing Laws. Students must complete 1500 requirement hours.

A part-time program designed to teach and prepare adult students for the state board exam required to obtain licensing in the District of Columbia. The curriculum covers history, hair services (braiding, extensions, chemical services, coloring, cutting, styling), skin services (facials, makeup, removal), nail services (manicuring, pedicuring, acrylics), and salon management.

A comprehensive study preparing students to provide high-quality care and education as early childhood teachers. The course covers eight subject areas and competency standards established by the Council of Professional Recognition. It includes reading ECE articles, lesson scenarios, field trips, projects, and evidence of coursework implementation. Students utilize skills in creative thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, time management, writing, and speaking. Coursework is offered for two settings: Pre-K and Infants & Toddlers. CDA Subjects include: Competency Standard I, Competency Standard II, Competency Standard III, Competency Standard IV, Competency Standard V, Competency Standard VI, Observing and Recording Children's Behavior, and Understanding Principles of Child Development and Learning. Credential Requirements: 120 hours of class, Professional Portfolio, Verification Visit, and CDA Exam. Earns six college credits and the CDA credential.

Students earn industry-recognized certifications while gaining hands-on culinary skills and exposure to food service careers.

Hands-on training program introducing HVAC fundamentals and workforce-ready skills in the skilled trades. Open to the public and free.

Provides foundational IT and cybersecurity skills to prepare participants for certifications and tech career pathways. Open to the public and free.

Equips students with money management skills including budgeting, saving, and credit education. Students have the opportunity to open a bank account with Chase Bank through partnership with Chase Bank.

Training to earn CPR certification for life-saving skills and college/job readiness.

Adult Basic Education classes as part of the National External Diploma Program pathway. Students take Reading and Math CASAS eTests to determine their skill levels and are placed in appropriate ABE classes to address skill gaps.

A competency-based program for adults seeking to earn their high school diploma. The program consists of two phases: Diagnostic Phase and Assessment Phase. Students complete assessments in the following competency areas: Writing Assessment, Reading Assessment, Math Assessment, Cultural Literacy/Film Literacy, Health Literacy, Civic Literacy, Consumer Awareness A and B, 21st Century Workplace, Geography/History, and Science. The program offers flexible learning pathways and allows students to demonstrate competencies through various assessment methods.

A class designed to help students build independence through communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, system thinking, health/wellness, civic responsibility, financial literacy, global awareness, resiliency, and problem solving. The curriculum includes life skills, weekly academic and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) check-ins, community access skills, mentoring, and pre-employment skills. Schedule: 3rd period on Tuesdays and Thursdays (12:30-1:45pm) for Infinity PLUS students; 4th period on Tuesdays and Thursdays (1:45-2:30pm) for Infinity students (SEL BLOCK).

All DCPS students must complete 100 hours of community service to earn a high school diploma. The program provides students with opportunities for hands-on experiences, such as building homes and volunteering at camps for special needs students, to fulfill graduation requirements and gain enriching experiences.
