A comprehensive study preparing students to provide high-quality care and education as early childhood teachers. The course covers eight subject areas and competency standards established by the Council of Professional Recognition. It includes reading ECE articles, lesson scenarios, field trips, projects, and evidence of coursework implementation. Students utilize skills in creative thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, time management, writing, and speaking. Coursework is offered for two settings: Pre-K and Infants & Toddlers. CDA Subjects include: Competency Standard I, Competency Standard II, Competency Standard III, Competency Standard IV, Competency Standard V, Competency Standard VI, Observing and Recording Children's Behavior, and Understanding Principles of Child Development and Learning. Credential Requirements: 120 hours of class, Professional Portfolio, Verification Visit, and CDA Exam. Earns six college credits and the CDA credential.
