I graduated Magna Cum Laude with an MA in English-Technical & Professional Communication from East Carolina University and Cum Laude with a BA in Writing from ORU.
-My favorite subjects to tutor are: reading (phonics and fluency), reading comprehension and writing, in which I hold certifications.
-I enjoy creating personalized, engaging tutoring plans to help students with their learning goals.
- Along with explicit instruction, tutor-led gradual release, and guided independent practice, students have scored 93 on the MAPS assessment, improved grades, and increased 30-40 points on reading fluency assessments.

Hobbies

I have a variety of hobbies and interests. Of course, I love fiction and non-fiction reading, especially Historical Fiction, and writing. I also enjoy going to sports events, outdoor activities, and watching movies. My favorite outdoor activity is the beach. Studies show hobbies and interests are important to the learning process, specifically, "attention-getting settings, contexts evoking prior individual interest, problem-based learning, and enhancing utility value." Therefore, like other tutors, I incorporate students' interests to foster engagement, create learning connections & enhance the learning experience.
