What is your teaching philosophy?

My philosophy of teaching is that all students are should receive equal education and become successful, productive citizens in society.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

It will be called meet and greet. Get the students interested first and then find out what they are struggling in academically.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I can help a student become an independent learner by showing praise when they are working alone. Building self-esteem and showing them different strategies to get them on their way to becoming independent.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

Lots of positive praise!!!! You can do it.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I will model the learning skill first, then break down each component in bite size pieces.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

When students are struggling with reading comprehension, we pick out the tricky words and sound it out. I also have students read line by line until they master the skill of comprehension.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Working in group intervention has been successful for my students. Students get the individualized attention they need.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

Positive praise!!! Lots of singing, having zest, letting the student know they are going to do well.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

I would give an exit ticket after the lesson to check for understanding.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

Positive praise. Students love when teachers praise them during academic challenges.
