I am an Arizona State University graduate with a degree in Elementary Education and I have been teaching mostly 3rd and 4th grade for 23 years. I also have a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University. During my teaching career, I have earned an English as a Second Language Endorsement as well as a Structured English Immersion Certificate. These along with other professional development opportunities have helped me to guide students with different levels of abilities. I am most confident in helping students to improve their reading and writing skills which in turn helps them in other areas. When students have difficulty in Math, I believe they can learn the basics and improve to the best of their ability. I have tutored students in Reading and Math in after school programs held at my school. When given the opportunity to tutor a student, I start with their learning goals, build on what they already know, and take the necessary steps to achieve the desired results. My expectation for each student is for them to put forth their best effort so they can believe in their own capabilities.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy time with my family and friends. It is relaxing to me when I am able to read, listen to music, plant flowers, and watch movies.
