I learned Spanish while living as an exchange student in Ecuador the year before I went to college (1989-1990). I became fluent during that time. I worked as an Assistant Teacher to the Spanish Department while studying at Davidson College and enjoyed getting to know the students & expanding their understanding of the Spanish language & the Latin American culture. I had the privilege of studying in Spain during my Junior year, which deepened my appreciation for the roots of the language. I worked as a Spanish/English interpreter for the Orange County courts as my Summer job during those years. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share what I learned.

My name is Rachael and I am a recent graduate of Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. I earned my degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and am happy to share my knowledge and love for science with others. During my time at Rollins, I was chosen to tutor and grade lab reports for my professors. I also have tutoring experience from high school in my hometown back in Pennsylvania. I have a passion for learning and love nothing more than passing that passion onto those that I get the opportunity to teach. Every student is different and learns in their own individual way, so discovering the best route of tutoring is vital before beginning teaching. I started tutoring because of my passion for learning and education.I tutored college level Math and History for over two years through the VCU Campus Learning Center. One of the math courses I tutored for was the lowest level of math offered at the university. Many of my tutees were students who disliked math because of their struggles with the subject. I was very successful with these student because I helped them find the relevance in what they were learning. I have worked with a wide range of students including adult learners, students with learning disabilities and ESL students. I have now been tutoring for Varsity Tutors for over three years.What makes me a great tutor is my patience, positivity and passion for seeing my students succeed.
