I asked the student when I arrived how he thought he did on his science exam. He said the BCR's were easy....they were similar to ones we had done. He said he thought he did well. Math- He had four problems on a worksheet to finish. He did that easily. Science- He had an assignment to complete for tonight (2 pages that is due tomorrow). He finished that with no problem. He has a good grasp of phase change and was able to finish these with little effort. We went through the teaching sheets and he completed those two pages. On Monday night we will complete the next 2 worksheets and study for the quiz next Tuesday. He was positive and worked really hard.

The student is reviewing for his final exam. We spent this session reviewing some topics from earlier in the year. We worked on solving systems of equations by substitution and elimination, combining like terms, and adding/subtracting polynomials. We also worked on solving quadratic equations. The student seems to be in very good shape. He needed a refresher, but had retained a lot of the information

The student first wanted to look at his chemistry. He had just started redox reactions in class and he wanted to go over a few of the examples of redox reactions he had been given for practice. First we discussed what the steps were for balancing a redox reaction, and then he did 3 of the problems from his practice sheet. Next, he wanted to have me check his work while he went through the day's assignment. Problems included: finding the area of an irregular triangle using Heron's formula and determining the missing length of sides or angles for a triangle using the law of sines or the law of cosines.
