I am a graduate Eastern Kentucky University and the United Stated Sports Academy. I received my Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Coaching. I received my Master's degree in Sports Management/Coaching. After graduation I spent 20 years coaching college basketball at small colleges in the Midwest. When I was offered a teaching position I jumped at the opportunity to do something I have always wanted to do. I consider myself a well rounded educator. During my teaching career I have taught grades 5-12th. I have also taught numerous subjects including US History, Government, Sociology, Pre-Algebra, Geometry, Physical Education and Health. I also have achieved certifications in meditation, nutrition coach, and Social Emotional Learning. I enjoy collaborating with others in order to learn from each other. I have been involved in the Indiana Superintendent's teacher taskforce, Edmentum's Educator Summit, Edmentum's Dream Team, ISTE's Artificial Intelligence Cohort, and several work based learning cohorts. I am a professional civil engineer with over 28 yrs experience and a record of practice in over 4 countries.I hold a BSc in civil engineering and a masters in project management. I also hold a second masters degree in construction management technology at Purdue University in the state of Indiana.I once lectured for 6 yrs in the civil engineering Dept.of Walter Sisulu University in South Africa.I have also run several seminars and workshops to over 40 engineering professionals in the area of project management and construction contract management.I am currently working as a program specialist managing a research grant at the college of engineering, purdue university in west Lafayette, IndianaI have tutored on this platform over 15 students towards the PMI-PMP, FE professional certification exams and other construction related subjects in the past 3 years and majority of them had passed. I have also tutored a class of professionals in how to use Microsoft Project Software to schedule their projects .My tutoring philosophy or approach is more of a participatory one where I encourage my students to contribute to the teaching experience through live problem-solving exercises that will help build their confidence towards the exams.I give them a shared access to a g-drive study folder that contains all their needed study materials.I provide lesson Notes that are compiled from multiple sources, detailed, self-explanatory and laced with multi-situational examples,pictures,diagrams and videos.I also provide exam-like practice problems for their home practice.Revision Question and Answer Workshop sessions are also available on demand

I am a recent graduate of Indiana University-Bloomington, where I majored in Political Science and Mandarin Chinese. This past year I studied abroad and worked in China with the Chinese Flagship Program. I love studying history, languages, literature, and writing, and when I'm not helping students as a tutor, you can find me swing dancing, listening to jazz music, experimenting with vegan baking, and walking my dog.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame, IN, where I earned my doctoral degree in contemporary American poetry. Before that I earned my masters in English at Wake Forest University, NC. I am passionate about poetry, writing, and the English language, and dedicated to helping others understand and achieve competence in the writing process. I have taught college-level composition courses, as well as a poetry course, and have tutored at Wake Forest University's writing center for two years, and therefore have experience in coaching students at different skill levels through many stages of the writing process, including formulating arguments, brainstorming ideas, handling grammatical issues, finding sources for research, and revising essays. I continue to enjoy meeting students where they are and walking with them through the learning process. As a 3rd year pharmacy student, I can relate to the challenge of keeping up with difficult coursework. Every student faces a subject that requires extra time and effort, and it is important to have help along the way to stay motivated and get through tough spots. I am not only passionate about learning but also about helping others to achieve their educational goals. My experience as a tutor began at an early age in working with my classmates in subjects such as biology, chemistry, and geometry. In college I spent time with elementary age children at an after school community center working on reading and writing using games and activities. In addition to having worked with middle schoolers on English and social studies homework, I also worked at the senior center as a personal computer tutor. Through my placement in the Junior League of Indianapolis, I worked with School on Wheels, a structured tutoring program involving reading and writing activities in addition to homework assistance. Last year I was a reading tutor for the Nashville public school system, working with second and third grade students on reading and writing. Currently I serve as a volunteer at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in the school program working with children in the inpatient unit. I am passionate about serving my peers and my community.Having fun and finding what motivates students is key to not only wanting to do the work, but also to retaining what they have learned. For example, during my time as a tutor for the Nashville public school system, one student and I had a particularly close connection. She flourished as a student, and in the end wrote a particularly entertaining rap song using the lessons she had learned with me. As a tutor, this is the sort of experience I seek to bring to all my students.

I am a recent graduate (Cum Laude) from Ball State University with a BA in Theatre Production Directing and two minors in Technical Theatre and Film/Screenwriting. I am currently working on a MA in Secondary Education from Ball State University as well.The subjects that I am available to tutor are Clarinet, English, Essay Editing, Writing, Pre-Algrebra, and Public SpeakingDuring three years of undergrad, I was a Teacher's Assistant for a class called Aesthetics 1 for the Department of Theatre and Dance. It is a course that every student has to take in the beginning of their freshman year and the class specializes in script analysis, theatre history, and presenting information in ways that will be understood by groups of people. I spent every semester helping my students when they did not understand the concepts of the material and the dynamic of the class, reviewed their papers and re-writes, judged their final presentations, and assisted in grading assignments with Canvas.I have spent my summers working with children as both an instructor and a youth director. It was my job to create lesson plans during the day for students in the topics of acting and analyzing a script and technical theatre. I had very little to work with but always made it a priority for the children to be enjoying themselves while we were in session. In order to reach this goal, I had to constantly change the way I went about educating them because it would not make sense to continue one method when it does not work.Even though my specialties are in reading, writing, and analysis of the written word, I also find math to be a fascinating subject. I have even found it to be close to the topics mentioned above if seen in the best light.In order to have calm in my life I write plays, complete math problems, listen to music, and bake sweets for my family.My Teaching Statement: A passionate and driven professional who strives for students to be able to think critically in and out of the classroom. I have a passion for learning and love to pass that along to my students. My most favorite subjects are math and English. I love the way that math is logical and follows an order of operations.
