I am a Martial Arts Instructor who coaches students on a daily basis in order to help them operate to their fullest potential. I push my students to perform beyond what is required of them, so that they are better equipped to handle the various obstacles in life. I approach tutoring in much the same way and often combine my coaching methods and philosophies with my teaching methods and systems. My goal with each of my students is to teach them well enough that I eventually put myself out of a job! I train my students to be active learners who understand how to research information, to reason through known facts, and to make educated conclusions for themselves in order to give them the tools necessary to solve real-world scenarios. I believe that every student has the potential for genius inside of them, just waiting to be revealed. My favorite method of teaching is guiding students through a new topic by asking them a series of questions that lead them to the correct answer. I consistently research new teaching methods, psychological studies, and educational movements in order to stay current with academic trends, and to provide my students with the best instruction possible. I use what I know about psychology and learning styles to develop a method tailored to each of my students' needs. It is also very important to me to build a trusting relationship with my students in which they know that I have their best interests at heart and that I truly do care for their success. I like to spend time getting to know each of my students by dedicating a small portion of each session to talking about the day and sharing what is on our minds. I have a strong record of increasing test results and overall grades, and all my students show a dramatic improvement in character and demeanor.

I am recent graduate from American Military University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. While working towards the completion of my degree I volunteered with a local organization that helps families who are facing pediatric cancer, and served as the President of the Stafford MOMS Club. During that time I also worked as a substitute teacher for grades K-12, but found that I most enjoyed working in English and History classrooms as those two subjects are where I excel as an instructor. I've learned through my own educational experience, and especially when working with others on challenging material, that the best way to learn is to find ways that make studying fun. It is hard to feel motivated to work extra on subjects that really test your patience and do not interest you at all-- that's why I'm here! As a native of the City of Falls Church, I am a die-hard Washington area sports teams fan, and can often be found watching and going to see my favorite teams. When I have some free time, or "mom time" as I like to call it, I am typically glued to my Kindle reading, at the gym in a yoga studio or working out my Latin dance skills at Zumba.

I am a Special Education Teacher from Fredericksburg, VA. I believe in allowing students to make mistakes; but also allowing students to see where their mistakes are. I follow a I do, we do, you do model of teaching. Which allows your student to see the steps, then we work it together, then your student does the problem by their self. But of course, I will be right there to answer questions at anytime.

As Carl Sagan stated, "Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known". My Dad, a Geophysicist by training, patiently instill in me curiosity and fascination with life science. I have been thinking of Biological science as the right discipline that can unveil all the secrets that fascinate humanity.I like biology because it is capable of operating on different scales, it also constantly widens our perspective how to benefits humankind. I hope that one day I will be and practically equipped enough to make my contribution. Since high schools, I took extra-curricular classes to cover college levels that expanded my knowledge of topics like genetics and the nature of disease processes. The existence of genes and the fact that one can create diseases by inducing new mutations in them intrigued. At college I did some research in breast cancer genes alterations and the factors that alters them. This studies further inspired me to do more research work. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to conduct a series of experiments under the supervision of a professor from the Biomedical and Biotechnology Research Institute at my University. The work dealt with the determination of the function of the genes and studying the interference phenomena from toxic compounds. In my spare time I enjoy expanding my knowledge of biology by reading books like "The language of life" by Francis Collins. These expanded my interests beyond the world of science. I love travelling and studying history. Once I won a silver award in a drawing at a UNICEF competition. Also, I was interested in my school social life as well: I served two terms as the president of my multicultural organization and was a representative in the varsity student council. All this peaked my interest in the study of Medicine. I feel that I benefited immensely both personally as well as professionally by being able to work in well-equipped facility under the guidance of top specialists in Biomedicine. In graduate school, I studied Neuropharmacology and other subjects in molecular Biology during the preparation for my master's thesis. In the future, I will like to study medical oncology and the use of pharmacology techniques to contribute to solving global problems of cancer epidemic and other disease processes.

I am passionately determined to inspire curiosity and confidence in people of all ages and abilities. While you may be seeking a tutor to help you to succeed on one test, or in one subject, working with a tutor is an opportunity to develop a greater understanding of yourself; I can help you to identify your unique needs and to harness your strengths so that you may be successful in the classroom and beyond. I have been employed as a tutor at a community college in Fredericksburg, VA, and as a preschool teacher in Garrisonville, VA. Working with people of all ages, I've found that everyone can benefit from the individualized instruction a tutor can provide. Even the most intellectually gifted students may require a second opinion or emotional support, and those with intellectual disabilities may exceed all expectations given a teacher that is patient and compassionate. I specialize in reading, writing, science, and test preparation, but I hope to help my students to feel brilliant and appreciated in all that they do.
