I am a graduate of Rutgers University, New Brunswick. I double majored in Chemistry and History receiving a BA in both Chemistry and History. I then pursed a Ph. D. in chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania studying the synthesis of Marine Natural Products. After receiving my Ph. D. I proceeded to complete a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School studying biochemistry. I have worked as a scientist in an agricultural chemistry company and have taught Chemistry and Biochemistry at both the undergraduate and graduate level. I have tutored at both the high school and college level in a wide range of subjects in chemistry including introductory chemistry, life science/nursing chemistry courses, organic chemistry and biological chemistry. I firmly believe that all students can excel in chemistry and that much of the disconnect between the student and material is the abstract nature of chemistry. By using real world examples from everyday life and carefully crafted analogies many principles can be understood. In addition I have worked extensively on academic outreach programs focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and chemistry education in underresprented minorities both at the high school and college level. In my free time I enjoy training for and competing in triathlons, cooking and watching local professional and collegiate sports.

About Me:Since graduating from Colgate University in 2016, I have taught in a variety of settings, working with students from several different age groups. I spent one year as a special education teacher for 2nd and 3rd grade students, and four years as a physical education teacher in early childcare. My favorite thing about about working with students is being able to help them realize their own potential. While I love being able to transfer my knowledge and skills to potential students, I am genuinely amazed when I have the opportunity to help someone grow in their self-confidence.My Teaching Philosophy:Learning is not merely a process of rote memorization and regurgitation of facts. It is a dynamic process in which an individual, with a unique personality and learning style, attempts to understand and integrate new concepts and ideas. As such, my teaching style emphasizes the importance of the individual's personality. I start by meeting a student exactly where they are in their learning process for a particular subject. We work together to identify their unique learning style (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, reading/writing, etc) and from there, use their strengths to deepen their understanding of challenging concepts. It is my belief that anyone can learn challenging concepts if they keep trying. This belief underpins all aspects of my interactions with students and encourages them to believe this truth about themselves over time.Favorite subject to tutor:Math! I love tutoring math because it is a challenging subject for a lot of people. I love tutoring math because it is incredibly rewarding to help students understand that even though math can seem really challenging and confusing, it is something that anyone is capable of learning if they spend enough time working on it. I love helping students build their confidence over time in a subject that, to them, seemed previously impossible to understand. What I tutor:-Math-Reading-History-Science-Javascript-HTML/CSS

I have enjoyed teaching children of all ages for my entire professional career. I have over 10 years of formal and informal teaching experience. I have experience teaching large groups (60+), but I enjoy teaching at the individual level the most. I also have over 10 years of tutoring experience in many different countries and in many different situations. I enjoy working one on one with students of all ages. I enjoy tutoring and helping my students to open their minds and understand the world around them. Teaching gives me a great deal of satisfaction and contentment. For this reason I have partnered with Varsity Tutors. I love helping students achieve their greatest potential. I obtain great satisfaction by observing their progress and seeing their confidence increase as they master new material. I love what I teach, and I try to pass that on to each and every one of my students.

While I initially stumbled upon my knack for tutoring by teaching others as a method of studying for my own courses, I soon discovered that I had a natural ability to communicate information to others and to help people understand subjects they had previously struggled with.As a Master of Fine Arts candidate in Creative Writing at Rutgers University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English (2018), I am often the first person my peers go to for help understanding difficult literature, reviewing their essays, or tackling a difficult writing prompt. Through that, I now see that tutoring is a wonderful way for me to combine my enthusiasm for reading and writing, my success as a graduate student, and my desire to help others. I hope to not only help my clients achieve a better understanding, but to pass on my own enthusiasm for literature and learning. When I am not in class or working as a nanny in the mornings, I enjoy writing poetry, playing with my kitten, and exploring new neighborhoods around me. I am also a music enthusiast, and can always be found singing, listening to my favorite artists, or browsing for up-and-coming bands. After I complete my Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing in 2021, I plan on pursuing my dreams to publish my own book of poetry.

I am a graduate of the University of Delaware. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with a concentration in Education. I went on to receive my Masters Degree in Secondary Education and Special Education. I am currently a Special Education teacher at a high school in Passaic Valley. Part of my daily responsibilities is tutoring students after class to help all different types of learners reach the same goal - understanding! The subjects that I tutor do not include only those in the social sciences, but also reading and writing skills. Reading and writing are crucial skills for all learners, and for any type of career path that a student chooses to follow. If my experience in education has taught me anything, it is that there are many different types of learning styles and it is meeting the need of that learning style that will help to foster appropriate understanding. Outside of the classroom, I also help coach wrestling and football at the high school, which are my passions outside of the academic sphere.

After earning a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine where I focused on the neurobiology of learning and memory, I decided to change career paths. After completing 18 months of a post-baccalaureate pre-health program at New York University, I am elated to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine.I completed my course requirements early and am now tutoring full-time, allowing me to devote my undivided attention to my students. I had the privilege of teaching multiple classes during my graduate career, and am excited to work one-on-one with students. I am eager to connect with them on a more personal level so that I may adjust my teaching style to meet the need of each individual.I earned a BA from the University of Rochester in Brain & Cognitive Sciences. Both my graduate and undergraduate studies have explored how the brain effectively learns information, and I look forward to opportunities where I can share what I have researched with others. Given my background, I am proficient in math, science, and psychology, and can help my students apply the principles of scientific writing to create clear and concise essays. Having recently taken the GREs, I look forward to sharing strategies for effective test-taking and SAT preparation. In my spare time I love running, and am a member of a women's running club. I am a second year engineering student located in the New York City area. I have attended one of the top public high schools in the nation and I am currently attending a top engineering school. I have been tutoring professionally for over two years, at a private company and with my own clients. My students have shown great improvements in a variety of subjects, from SAT, SHSAT and Regents prep to Calculus, Physics, and Geometry. I specialize in mathematics, however, my writing and reading comprehension skills are of an equally high level. Having achieved top scores on both the SAT and SHSAT, along with various regents tests, I know what it takes to understand subject matter, and as a result, achieve high scores. I believe that everyone possesses the ability to excel in their academic pursuits. I would love to help you with yours.
