Alicia
Greetings! My name is Alicia and I am a Mechanical Engineering major at NYU. I have developed strong math competences through my rigorous coursework and have the ability to help students of different levels and backgrounds understand and retain mathematical concepts by customizing my teaching methods to their learning styles and preferences. I also have a keen interest in history and poetry, and I have pursued various activities and projects related to these fields. For example, I am a published author of two books, one of which is based on engineering, and I am currently working on my third book. I also run a blog called "That Engineering Student That Mentors," where I share my advice and insights on how to succeed in engineering school. Furthermore, I am a member of the history club at my former university, where I participated in discussions and events about historical topics. Additionally, I am a remote volunteer with the Smithsonian institution, where I transcribe historical documents and contribute to the preservation of cultural heritage. I have two years of teaching and mentoring experience for students ranging from elementary to high school level, both online and in-person. I have used different tools and platforms to deliver engaging and effective lessons. I have also received positive feedback from my students and their parents on my teaching skills and performance. Moreover, I have served as a member of the School of Engineering's school advisory board at my current university, where I played an active role in providing feedback and input on various aspects of the school's policies, curricula, facilities, and activities. I also helped to increase communication and collaboration between the School of Engineering students and the Dean, Faculty, and Staff.
