About Me

Hi there! My name is Emily, and I am excited to learn how I can help you succeed in your math or science class. I have chosen to tutor over other jobs because I believe that every single student has the capacity within themself to reach their goals and full potential with just a little help. With the right guidance, support, and subjectmatter expertise, you or your child will be improving their letter grades and reaching their goals in no time. When working with a student, I draw on my years of experience tutoring and teaching middle, high school, and college students at every level, from high school math to summer program courses at Yale. In teaching, I take an empathetic approach to learning. As a former student, I know firsthand that the expertise of the teacher does not always correlate with that teacher's effectiveness working with students. Because my teaching is based on years of real-world experience tutoring students, I know that the "textbook" way of explaining things does not work for every student. As such, I view every student uniquely and create a unique tutoring approach based on that student's learning style.
