I have spent 20 years teaching students across Singapore and North America, supporting learners in English, math, science, geography, and philosophy. I enjoy helping students who are not native English speakers understand complex concepts and terminology. I hold a BA in Criminology from Simon Fraser University, an MBA in healthcare management, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Health Sciences at Liberty University. I also bring over 10 years of experience as a nonclinical investigator and work as a fraud analyst in the healthcare industry. My diverse background strengthens my communication, critical thinking, and problemsolving skills, all of which influence my teaching. Outside of work, I enjoy the outdoors, spending time with my family, and caring for my Bernese Mountain Dog. I am committed to helping students grow in confidence and reach their academic goals.

I'm Jamie, a 25-year-old high school teacher from Philadelphia. For as long as I can remember, I've loved helping people write standout application essays that reflect their personalities and passions. I'm a kind, incisive, and relatable teacher and I'd love to work with you to meet and exceed your goals!
Teaching has been a lifelong passion of mine. What drives me is sharing knowledge while genuinely connecting with others. I discovered my love for tutoring in high school and have been dedicated to it ever since. At Stanford University, I earned a BS in Human Biology and Chemistry while continuing to tutor throughout, advancing to Lead Tutor. After graduation, I spent a year as a Teaching Associate, designing and delivering course content which significantly broadening my pedagogical approach. What sets me apart is my versatility. Having served as both tutor and instructor, I can adapt my teaching style to each student's unique needs, whether that be building up foundational skills or pursuing advanced mastery. I'm now pursuing graduate studies at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, staying engaged with cutting-edge science while maintaining my commitment to education. I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals!
I am a rising college sophomore who will be attending Duke University on a full merit scholarship in the fall. I love to run cross country and play the viola, as well as tutoring students in a whole variety of subjects! Feel free to message me!

I'm a current student at Johns Hopkins University pursuing a bachelor's in both Neuroscience and Molecular & Cellular Biology. My favorite subjects to tutor are biology, chemistry, psychology, art history, and environmental science on both a high school and Advanced Placement level. Alongside those subjects, I am comfortable teaching middle school and lower level high school math and science, and I offer test preparation for both the SAT and ACT. Outside of academics, I like to train for memory sports, and my current goal is to set a Guinness World Record for memorizing the most decimal places of the irrational number phi. In my previous tutoring experience, I have not only helped teach the subject matter at hand, but I have also guided students on how to improve their study habits in general.
I'm Leah! I have a strong background in science, and would love to help you develop a greater understanding of these subjects. I graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 2019 with a degree in molecular and cellular biology. In 2022, I graduated from physician assistant school and am now a licensed PA-C.
I am currently living and working in the city and have always enjoyed learning. I want to be able to help students find their own joy of learning and I believe tutoring can really help them with that. Being able to understand a subject and come to that understanding on your own, with that little "ah ha!" in the back of your head is an amazing feeling. I believe that tutoring provides guidance for students who may need some extra help to get to that "ah ha" moment. Every student should feel proud of his or her work in and outside of school, and I hope to be able to help any student feel that way.
I am passionate about writing and literature. During my undergraduate studies, I read over 500 books for personal and academic reasons. These texts ranged in time period, genre, and field-- allowing me to possess diverse knowledge and experiences. I also have written for personal and creative reasons as well as academic researched based work. I am also an MFA in Writing student at Columbia University.
Hello! My name is Gabe, and I am a master's student at Johns Hopkins University studying Environmental Epidemiology and Biostatistics. I graduated from NYU in 2024 and studied environmental sciences and public health. I learned to have a passion for statistics since I found myself using it in so many of my courses. Statistics isn't for everyone, but I hope to help students expand their knowledge or gain confidence in using it for a class. While at NYU, I worked as a data analyst for a clinical trial and as a biostatistics intern. I am skilled in R studio for statistical and epidemiological analysis. My goal is to help students perform their best by becoming comfortable with the concepts.
I love to teach. I love young minds and fresh brains. Those are just like clean sheets of papers I can draw anything I like. I really like to help young people to achieve their full capacities with my long experience of teaching. I am very patient and good at explaining complex concepts in simple terms. I am looking forward to meeting students who need my help.
I'm a freshman at the University of Chicago studying Fundamentals and Political Science with a 3.9 GPA. I earned a 36 on ACT Reading and a 35 on ACT English, and I specialize in reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and humanities subjects. I began tutoring in high school and founded an after-school tutoring program to support younger students academically. Through that experience, I learned how to break down complex material, adapt to different learning styles, and help students build confidence alongside skills. As a tutor, I focus on teaching students how to thinkhow to read closely, organize ideas clearly, and approach challenging material with confidence. My goal is to make learning feel accessible and empowering, not intimidating.

Whether your student attends a school in the Frederick County Public Schools district or another local school, we can match them with a tutor who understands the curriculum and academic standards they're working with.
Maryland has specific learning standards across subjects and grade levels, and personalized 1-on-1 instruction is particularly effective at helping students master grade-level skills. Tutors work with students on the exact concepts they're struggling with—whether that's Maryland Math Standards, English Language Arts benchmarks, or science competencies—providing focused practice that builds confidence and competency.
Frederick students seek tutoring across a wide range of subjects, with math and English being particularly common, especially as students progress through middle and high school. We also connect students with tutors for science, history, standardized test prep (SAT and ACT), AP courses, and language learning. The specific needs vary by grade level and individual student goals.
The first session is typically a get-to-know-you meeting where the tutor learns about your student's academic goals, current challenges, and learning style. The tutor will assess where your student stands in the subject and create a personalized plan moving forward. This foundation helps ensure that every session after is focused and productive.
Frederick's average student-teacher ratio of 14.9:1 means classroom teachers are managing many students with different needs. Personalized 1-on-1 tutoring allows a tutor to focus entirely on your student—adjusting pace, explaining concepts in the way that makes sense to them, and providing immediate feedback. This targeted approach helps students move past specific obstacles much faster than group settings allow.
Tutoring costs vary depending on the subject, tutor expertise, and frequency of sessions. We work with families to find options that fit their budget and their student's needs—whether that's weekly sessions, test prep intensive support, or ongoing subject help.
