I have taught courses in American history and Western Civilization at Arizona State University, Scottsdale Community College, Chandler-Gilbert Community College. In addition, I have taught courses in the history of the American Southwest, Native American history, and American Indian studies. I have tutored students in English as a Second Language, reading comprehension, and essay writing.I use various types of information technology for class sessions, projects, and assignments. I have used both Blackboard and Canvas for my courses in conjunction with other online applications. I blend technology and traditional methods of instruction in my courses. I have worked in various capacities outside of the academic setting, and I utilize my experiences as an example how historical knowledge and methods are applicable outside of the classroom.I strive to show how topics relate to current events and stress the "cause-and-effect" aspects in history to show how history is relevant. I demonstrate how what occurred impacts people on a personal level with emphases on adaptability and continuity. Another of my goals is developing students critical thinking, writing, research, and collaborative working skills. I emphasize that materials presented in class are a starting point in seeking knowledge, not the final word.I view teaching as a major method for people to enrich their lives and broaden their views, in addition to their career preparation. I enjoy teaching and see it as a profession that is always evolving when it comes to the use of technology. I encourage visits to museums, heritage sites, guest lectures, and cultural events. I feel students can conceptualize what is being taught in the classroom through interaction. Students themselves are an invaluable resource in teaching each other. I approach every term as a learning experience for myself as well as my students, and encourage students to relate experiences relative to class topics. This gives students more confidence, encourages dialogue, and shows that the conveyance of ideas is not one way. However, my job does not end with class. I have encouraged and mentored students from various backgrounds in my career. It is greatly satisfying when they come to me requesting letters of recommendation to a program, law school, graduate school, a scholarship, or a job posting. It is gratifying seeing students apply what they learned to further their endeavors and enrich their lives.

Whenever someone is struggling with a difficult problem or topic in mathematics, there is a good chance that he or she is not being taught properly. To resolve this, I break down the material and create simple examples. With these simple examples, the student and I work our way back to the "difficult" problem. So many concepts and topics in various math courses can be learned in this way; from my experience, this process works for many students.I am currently a senior pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering at the City College of New York. Here, I have strengthened my skills in Mathematics, as I have taken courses ranging from Calculus 1 to Numerical Methods. Although these courses are highly advanced math courses, they all rely on concepts from preliminary courses such as Algebra and Geometry, which is why I was able to tutor a myriad of math courses when working as a member of the City Tutors.I enjoy the Legend of Zelda, which is a video game series that forces the player to pay attention to patterns and to figure out puzzles given small hints. In my opinion, Mathematics is similar-although a student may practice a group of problems, he or she finds that all of them share the same concepts and patterns.

A young, vibrant, and enthusiastic tutor that is dedicated to tutoring to the best of his abilities. Currently, specializes in tutoring the SIE exam, Series 6, Series 63. Tutors in a style that establishes a bridge between the material and common terms that are very understandable. I've received a Bachelors of Arts degree in economics from SUNY Purchase. I've also spent my recent time of employment working for a insurance company. At this time I developed my experience in tutoring, over the last 2 years, by helping my fellow coworkers pass their exams. In my experience with the SIE exam, Series 6, and Series 63 is to study through practice questions and analyzing them in an effort to best answer questions. I feel my passion comes from being able to help my students pass their exams, and becoming a small part of what leads to their future success.

My interest in education stems from my love of learning and the fact that I mostly enjoyed being a student during my years in school. I naturally gravitated toward tutoring and teaching because of their creative aspects. Since we all learn differently, I believe lessons should follow suit. And although I have followed the path of education workwise, I received my degree from the University at Albany as an East Asian Studies major and an English minor because of my love of culture and language.I feel that other languages are not only fun but important, so I spent two years in China teaching ESL to middle schoolers though I didn't know the language. It gave me the opportunity to learn as much as my students were learning every day.The majority of my experience is in teaching students of a younger age, but I have taught those of all ages so that I can be comfortable with whichever.

As a math tutor, it is my personal goal to make fractions less scary, I really enjoy taking higher level math concepts and make them accessible to those who feel like they will never understand them. I also want to encourage those who enjoy math to be curious and learn more than what their teachers teach.
