I was in the top 10 in my class at an engineering magnet High School and then went on to graduate with a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Florida in 2016. After leaving college, I immediately took a position for a software development company where I have been a QA analyst for over 3 years now. My end goal career wise is to one day be a Disney Imagineer with a focus on robotics and animatronics. My Honors Thesis was the proposition of Sensory Relief rooms to be implemented throughout the Disney parks to provide much needed respite to those suffering from disorders on the Autism Spectrum and more specifically, Sensory Processing Disorder. In essence, while my passion is engineering, I am unafraid of expanding my horizons and exploring fields such as mental health, software coding, and any other challenge that will further my education.Regarding my views on education. Without the next generation taking an active approach towards learning, what we do now will be for nothing. We cannot expect the up and coming generations to go without the wisdom and learning of the generations before, particularly from our mistakes and follies. Only with dedicated support and faith in their abilities can the students of today become the great minds of tomorrow. Thereby, I hope that I might be able to inspire whomever I can to value learning and the understanding of the world around us.But a little about my holistic self, however, and I must admit I am an avid fan of video games, notably the Fallout and Call of Duty franchises. And for those curious, I'm dedicated to Sony and the PlayStation (sorry PC or Xbox gamers). I also enjoy soccer, table top role-playing, paint ball, and horror movies (especially the awful ones). My wife and I, together, enjoy trips to Disney World whenever possible. Currently, I have been pursuing a Ph.D. in Education for Curriculum and Instruction. In addition, I received a certification in Elementary Education K-6 and ESOL K-12 as well as a Reading Endorsement. I have had teaching and tutoring experience in all core content areas, including math. Also, I have taught and tutored elementary and middle school students for over ten years. I worked extensively as an ESOL teacher for students in Kindergarten thru eighth grade. In particular, I assisted students in the arena of English Language Acquisition, English Language Arts, Reading, and Writing, focusing on Science and Social Studies in the content area. Finally, I have had experience instructing students in learning strategies for state standardized testing. I believe that each and every child can learn and I enjoy helping students find and achieve their full potential. While I tutor all subjects k-6th grade I have a passion for reading, math and writing. I believe that a good foundation in these three subjects allow students to be successful in life no matter what they may choose to do in the future. When I have a break from my studies, I work as a freelance writer for a new online publishing company, or I volunteer to tutor local high school kids in the SAT or local elementary school kids in math. Thus, I have experience in tutoring a variety of students in different age levels, subjects, and backgrounds.Since I was a child, I have always had a fondness for reading and writing. I have been writing for as long as I can remember, but I specialize in persuasive and argumentative writing; I even had a student editorial published in my local paper when I was 16. Due to this love for writing, I am able to tutor in a variety of English-based areas including the SAT and ACT Reading and Verbal Sections, general grammar studies, literature, and essay editing.As a tutor, I do not just help you answer the problem, but I help you to understand the fundamental skills that the question is asking so that you can apply that knowledge to similar problems in the future.
