I am a recent graduate of Columbia University currently working as a freelance writer and tutor while also maintaining a part-time job as a foreign sub-editor at "The Viet Nam News" as a Princeton in Asia fellow.I have benefited from the privilege of good teachers throughout my life, and I believe that the best way to account for that privilege is to do my best to be a good teacher to others.

I am a graduate cum laude of Clark University, with a CELTA certification in teaching English from Cambridge University. I was born and raised in Queens, attended Hunter College High School in Manhattan, and now live in Brooklyn, so I know the city very well. I have years of experience teaching and tutoring a wide range of subjects and students.My expertise lies in two main areas. Firstly, I teach ESL to adults and teenagers. I have experience both teaching in front of large classrooms and intensive one-on-one tutoring. My students come from all over the world, and I aim to tailor my lessons to their respective needs and interests, while covering the fundamentals of reading, writing, speaking, and listening to English. I always recommend a city-as-classroom approach, where my students immerse themselves in the language both in and out of school.Secondly, I tutor elementary and middle schoolers in English, Math and test preparation. I have always loved teaching, and I started working as a tutor in Math and Science in high school. I now teach a wide variety of subjects from Physics to Essay Writing to Math at every level, as well as standardized testing for SAT and GRE. I love tutoring because it combines two of my favorite activities: tackling complex ideas and engaging with people. It is so special to watch a student grasp a new concept that seemed entirely opaque only a few minutes earlier.I majored in theater and astrophysics at Columbia University and I am now a playwriting MFA at NYU, one of the best programs in the country (the story of how I transitioned from physics to theater is pretty funny and I???m happy to share it). While my intensive study of advanced Math and Physics helps me tutor those subjects, I find my theater skills are just as valuable to effective teaching. As a playwright, I have learned to explain ideas efficiently, inspire excitement, and connect with an audience. Using these techniques, I hope to make my students not only better at individual subjects, but also help them fall in love with the beauty of new ideas.

I currently teach at the college level intro Biology classes and have taught high school, and graduate students in biology, molecular biology, ecology, and evolution. I enjoy showing people how science can be engaging, fun, and relatable. Science can seem intimidating and complex, but I hope to show students how these science concepts are already part of their everyday life.

I am a Psychology Major at St. John's University. I primarily tutor Psychology at the high school level and English at the elementary and middle school levels, with a strong focus on Reading, Writing, and Vocabulary. I scored a 4 out of 5 on the Advanced Placement Psychology exam in high school, and have never received anything below an 'A' in every English course I've taken since the beginning of my schooling. I am very analytical and excel at identifying areas of concern and producing interesting and creative solutions.
