We went over the end of the student's review packet, which included polynomial inequalities and graphing polynomials. The student had no difficulty in figuring them out. We then went over the beginning of the packet again, which we had originally looked at 3 weeks ago. The student is very intelligent and picks up on concepts very quickly. I think that with a little review before his exam, he should have no trouble. We tentatively spoke of meeting again on Tuesday.

Listing equations, looking at sample questions and doing practice problems is a good way to build a student's confidence.

We covered properties of parallelograms, trapezoids, kites, rhombuses, squares and rectangles. We worked on correcting her quiz and filling out a chart that will hopefully clarify these differences. I encouraged her to fill out that chart again without looking at her notes and adding the relevant theorems that corresponded to those properties. We will review these concepts again before her test.

The student has a chapter test tomorrow, so we spent our time going over the concepts for that. We worked more on setting up problems which she has shown great progress in as well as some algebraic tricks for solving systems of equations. Next week is the unit test, so we will do a larger review next week.

Today, I met with the student and went over three problem sets involving geometric proofs using triangle, quadrilateral, and parallel line theorems. We reviewed his work and by having him explain to me his work process, I think he is able to make some of these abstract theorems more concrete and familiar in his mind. One theorem that we covered was not on the list of theorems provided by his geometry teacher, but I'm sure that they covered it in class. It was a theorem that states if point A is not on line l, and if line m is parallel to line l such that line m bisects a line drawn from point A to an arbitrary point on line l, then line m also bisects all lines drawn from point A to any point on line l. The student is showing tremendous improvement and he is able to show how bright he is with how fast and how clever his proofs are. He told me today that he got the highest score in his class on his previous quiz. Given his inquisitive mind and his hard-working attitude, I'm not at all surprised.
