Economics Tutoring review by Elliot in Westminster
We went over some physics review.  He seems to be doing well with the material and remembered most of the first term material.  He was not a comfortable with the second term's material, but hopefully with a bit more review he will become more confident with it.  Good session

Reviewed probability with the student: mutually exclusive events and independent events. She understood well and so should be able to complete the homework. Reviewed ratios/proportions in Geometry book. The student's reading comprehension is very good. HW: pg. 46, 47 in Pre-Algebra, pg. 36 in Geometry.

The student and I continued to work on homework problems regarding her Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry course.  She seems to be doing well in the class and her grade is improving in the class as well. She has a better understanding of the material since we started tutoring a few months ago and the homework is becoming easier for her. She is also taking better notes. She is currently waiting for her SAT results to arrive. She feels comfortable with how she did on the exam.

To begin, we discussed the homework from last session.  The student had not completed the essay but we worked on writing a solid introduction paragraph.  I explained the structure of the introduction and she rewrote the introduction several times.  Then, the remainder of the session was focused on rates and proportions.  By the end of the session, was completing problems with very little help from me.

The student's paper was due on Friday, so we continued with final edits. She had a good flow to her draft, so we mostly just focused on the little things like word choice and sentence structure. I helped her make the edits to her paper, explaining as we went along why certain things had to change. She made the edits to her paper and then we worked on restating her thesis for the conclusion. The student was still quite nervous about accidentally plagiarizing. We looked over the paper two or three times to ensure that everything that needed to be cited was cited. I assured her that it was always better to. At the end of the session, we added page numbers to her paper and fixed the title of her essay. I told her to email me with any additional questions and let me know about the grade she receives on the paper.

Economics Tutoring review by Joseph in Westminster
We covered price sensitivity (elasticity) mostly as it responds to government interventions on the supply side. These were fairly sophisticated problems. The student needs to review what we covered. This material is very challenging, and he finds it more difficult than some of his other work. I think this Managerial Economics course will get easier for him - elasticity is always a hard concept.
