I am a licensed teacher in Oregon with over 6 years of experience working in a variety of school environments. I've earned a Masters degree in Education from Portland State University, along with an additional Graduate Certificate in Middle School Mathematics Education. Last summer, I returned home to Portland after a two-year teaching engagement in northern Thailand, where I taught a variety of subjects (including Math and Science) to students in grades 5 - 10 in a private international school. I just completed a contract as the Middle School Math and Science teacher and 7th grade Homeroom teacher at Arthur Academy in St. Helens, Oregon.
I am committed to creating an educational environment that is challenging and relevant to all students, while at the same time supporting the differences in character and learning styles that make teaching interesting. Furthermore, I am familiar with Common Core subject standards, and "backward planning", and am comfortable using a variety of assessment strategies to determine student needs and proficiencies.
