About Me

I am a recent graduate of Sacramento State University, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in English, as well as a TESOL certificate. Since graduating, I have been working as an educational assistant at various locations and an intern for web input whilst I prepare for the credential program. I have also been involved in various extracurricular pursuits: honing my jewelry-making skills, Creative Writing, photographing the beautiful National Parks of Western America, and playing on co-ed volleyball and basketball teams. I have a strong interest in working with teens and young adults, having spent six years as an educational assistant, or what most would call a "tutor." I have worked with undergrad and graduate students, ELs, and elementary students. In fact, my experience working with adolescents, teens, and adults has greatly influenced my interest in pursuing a career in teaching. Having ventured a plethora of academic terrains with various age groups, I am happy to offer tutoring in many different areas. This includes Academic Essays, Research Papers, Speeches, Creative Writing, Graduate Theses, and Personal Statements. I am also available to assist individuals for whom English is their second language. I have a passion for both language and deep Literary Analysis, and am available for English Reading and Writing assistance, as well as general homework help in Humanities and Proofreading. My teaching philosophy highly emphasizes collaboration: we will work together to improve in areas that need strengthening. I also have helped students with study skills, brainstorming, outlining, revision, and grammar. Teaching Experience:-Trained and worked as an English Writing and Reading Skills Tutor-Experience as tutor for ELs-Was selected as an instructional assistant for the Equal Opportunity Program at CSUS. I met with my tutees regularly to guide them through the difficulties of freshmen year from completing their first college writing assignments to dealing with roommates and their new discourse community.-Was selected as a tutor for the Reading and Writing Center at CSUS
